Of all the games to sit Reaves it probably makes the most sense for a game 7. No need to send a message, likelihood of an ugly game with dumb penalties low.

Rather have DeAngelo shouting and running his mouth, losing his cool and maybe doing dumb things without the “threat” of Reaves.

A guy like Reaves might be able to goad ADA into doing extra dumb shit and put Carolina on the kill.

Then again with the shorties this team has given up, maybe not going on the PP is the better course of action. :sarcasm:

No, that is asinine. Blais isn't ready yet. That is why we will see Reaves.
It's a choice between someone who has had one half misplay in the Dzone in 13 playoff games vs a guy who hasn't played in 7 months or whatever. That's why I say it's a hockey decision, whether or not Blais is ready. Reaves has been uncanny good. Off the charts.

I legitimately am not sure if I should take you seriously or not.

That's a pretty smart take on it. I like it.

Any chance he comes back against Tampa?

I think so.

I've been saying it for a while now but the only way we were going to see him again this year was if we made it to the ECF - and even then that would be the earliest we would see him.

He's 6.5 months post op now and while its still pretty early in the return to play window, he is in it. Assuming that all has gone well and he can get himself into shape I'd expect to see him again pretty soon. Hockey players are a different breed. Remember when Killorn basically begged to have a steel rod inserted into his leg so he could play in the finals last year? It didn't happen because that would have been insane, but these guys want to play and will get in there earlier than they really should and will look for almost anyway to do it.

GG likes to keep things the same if we win (although he changed the kid line after game 4) so I don't see a Blais for Reaves swap.

That would be a mistake, imo. I can see Reaves playing games 1 and 2 at MSG to also set the tone and keep Maroon and Perry at bay, but long-term in the series, it should be a Motte-Goodrow-Blais line.

Reaves contributed in the way of intangibles. He is a presence out there when the other team wants to pull shenanigans.

To stick to topic, if Blais gets medically cleared there is NO WAY he will want to sit out.
Everybody has their role. Reeves served his. Gallant is not dumb. GG knows exactly what Reeves brings and what his weaknesses are as well. Rod Brindamor is not dumb either. If he could have exploited Reeves he would have. How many goals against has Reeves been on for?

Surprisingly not many.

It would just be nice to have a quality 4th line to unleash AGAINST TB that they have used against everyone else the last 2 years.

Reeves has played well this series and has not taken many penalties. He's looked even better with the return of Goodrow.

Blias hasn't played all year. It would be a bit risky to try to insert him in the lineup at this stage.

In the playoffs it has to be very low if any. I do not remember any.

I think we have decent selection of 4th line parts if healthy in Goodrow-Motte-Blais-Rooney-Gautheir-Reeves-Hunt. Just a matter of how they fit and engage.

Maybe risky had he played game 7 against Carolina, but if he's ready to go, he should for sure play against Tampa.

Reaves is like 15th in the league in hits despite playing the maximum possible games.

He has yet to deliver a single game changing hit, or fight, or anything.

He sucks. He should be out of the lineup.
