Or just let us cling to the hope that he comes back. What is the benefit in being so right about something like this? Some of us are holding out hope, just let us be
I know it doesn't across that way in my first post, but I hope he comes back too. I loved how Blais' game was developing before he got hurt, and I need a Motte-Goodrow-Blais line like I need oxygen in my lungs. I'm just trying to be realistic with his timetable returning from a torn ACL and how he's probably pretty far from game-ready. It's why I was asking about how long it took other players, like Fabbri, to get back into form after returning from the same injury. I genuinely wasn't sure.

He has no spot to come in the lineup. So you're hoping for something bad to happen. Why can't you just hope for positivity?

What does this mean? Wanting a player healthy is hoping for something bad to happen? He does have a spot when healthy. The Reaves spot. They can switch off home and away if you want, but there is no reason that Reaves should be the automatic starter. After the TDL when we starting becoming a way better 5v5 team, he was a healthy scratch often.

It's not about hoping for a problem. It's that NHL success is built on depth. Kypreos, Olczyk got in some games in '94. NYR lately scratching Fs who played 76, 61, 49, 43 games for NYR this season.
Get Blais healthy, and trust the staff decide best lineups every game.

He's probably ready to go about now but they won't play him unless Tampa puts us on our knees. You don't just throw a player who's recovered from an injury like that into the midst of a ECF matchup against f***ing Tampa, it's just not realistic. For those who still want to sit Reaves, you're an airhead. Last night is yet more proof that the energy Reavo provides is more valuable than anything else.

I understand we want to see Blais back because he's sneaky good and can check, but there is no way he comes into the lineup and starts magically lighting the lamp and playing like an Elite #1 winger. Sorry bros

adding Blais ruins the chemistry of that 4th line right now. I wouldn't mess with that AT ALL
I said Reaves for the first game or 2 makes sense, especially at MSG to set the tone. But Blais should be in instead of him after.

That said, I can see the side of the argument where you don't want to mess anything if they are rolling and winning.

unless theres info its changed hes not cleared for contact. and unless theres info out there i havent seen, theres nothing out there about his skating and if hes full go with that. only thing i saw is dated but noted he wasnt pushing very hard on the ice yet.

so why would anyone think hes close? genuinely curious if theres good info out there....id guess hes still a min 10 days away and might be more like 3+ weeks depending on how he responds as they ramp up - based on what ive seen.

One factor weighing against Blais is that the team isn’t practicing. Their schedule doesn’t allow it. Blais can skate on his own and with the heathy scratches and black aces, but that’s not going to get him ready for games after six months off.

I love Reavo, really do.

But if Blais is at just 75%, he is still better than Reaves.
Reavo keeps Maroon from being a Magoon. I think Reavo does effectively neuters any delusion the Lightning might have of being a tough group. I feel like if you take Reavo out, the Lightning will mysteriously have a game where they look tough.

Are you really worried about Maroon?? Perry? I mean cmon. We have guys who can handle them if really needed.

I'm not worried about them per se. I'm worried that if they feel comfortable to goon it up, they will play with more swagger which will translate to playing better which will translate to a narrower goal differential. If we continue to win the next three games 6-2, why mess with a working formula?

If Blais is ready to go, he can spell Reaves. They’re rotate. Reaves a game and Blais a game. Depending on matchup.

As someone who had an ACL replacement the idea that Blais, without any live game action or physical contact, can come back and play effectively in little more than 6 months from his surgery date is ludicrous and not worth talking about. This was never a realistic possibility.

The first month Blais is back playing, whenever that is, he will be learning to trust the knee again, more than trying to produce. To suggest throwing him into the ECF's is a joke.

I think one professional athlete of thousands accomplished the proposed early return - Adrian Peterson.

I’m pretty worried about Perry when it comes to Shesterkin if I’m being honest. Would not be shocked to see him try some accidentally on purpose shit sooner or later.

Don't bother. It just doesn't stop.

Not saying you're wrong, but you are also not a professional athlete with the best doctors and trainers in the world.

I would also point out that out of the 3 fights Reaves had this season, one of them was against Maroon so having Reavo in the lineup is probably a good thing for now. Keeps the other team modest.

Fights are so far and few between during the playoffs. Its silly to keep Reaves in the lineup for that reasoning.

If Blais was available he is automatically the better option
