Ever since J.D left he has been horrendous. As the years go by he gets worse and worse.

Editorializing while play is going on, the bad goal calls. His endlessly filling the broadcast with every detail about the OTHER teams players as he make sure he utters every fact the opposing teams PR guy gave him before the game.

He is awful.

Rangers dont have announcers like other teams, the guys who call the game are extensions of the Rangers PR department. Never critical or talking about specifics of a struggling player. Just sweeping generalizations, all the while lauding the opposing team night after night. he and his ridiculous toupee should hang it up.

You must not listen to these other announcers who tend to be horrific homers. Sam is just a positive guy.

Thank God for small favors. If the Rangers ever hired Jack Edwards, I would kill myself.

It seems as if all of your posts are either complaints about Rosen or new threads about your radio show. Are you just jealous of Rosen?
 
I remember him calling a lot more PP goals than he does now, that's for sure. During the last short season, we were in top 5 in PP%? Maybe top 10?
 
Lucky indeed. You can have madmen out there like Jack Edwards or clowns like the two clods at ROOT sports.

You might wanna hang it up big boy. You're just a sensationalist, if you had any ability to write or speak I'd have thought you write for the Post.

Just trying to stir the pot to get hits for your little site.

P.S. you know lauded means praised, right? It's a bad thing that our play caller isn't a total homer and gives the opponent their due?

I love Sam Rosen.

Got to meet him outside the Garden after a game once. Shook hands. Really nice guy.
 
I envy Sam's job.... It must be nice to do something you love for so long.... Think of all the cities he's gotten to travel to, and first class services too.....

You can take shots at his play by play but according to most accounts the guy is a class act. No need for the gratuitous cheap shots. Oh and most other announcers are homers. Do some research before you spew false garbage and cheap shots. :shakehead

first off, its not a toupee, its an all natural comb over. trust me, i've seen him walking to his car and seen his hair blowing around in the wind. not a pretty sight, but its real.

if he was really always being fed info by the rangers PR department, why do you think they would have their PxP guy take info from the other teams PR team? makes no sense and contradict's itself doesn't it?

mouth i like you, you're a good guy, but you're 100% wrong on this one. he may not be as good as he used to be, but he's still much better then most other announcers out there and he's a rangers hockey institution. rangers hockey on MSG wouldn't be the same without him, that's for sure.
 
I think he's lost a bit off his fastball but has more than earned the benefit of the doubt. He's a class act by all accounts, a fact confirmed by my one small interaction with him. I've had center ice for years; trust me we are lucky to have him. :nod:

yes I'm jealous of a 65 year old announcer who looks like Ben Franklin. I have a collection of hockey game videos that goes back to the 1950's and I've listened to every announcer there is. So I am kind of an expert on the subject. I've listened to everybody from Foster Hewitt. Bill Hewitt, Bob Cole, Pat Foley to all the guys that are announcing now.

I also post on a myriad of topics here, so yoru characterization is wrong.

I hear you on being a positive guy, but his play calling ability is horrible, he has legendary status on awful announcing.com for his football announcing, I'm thinking of posting some of his hockey stuff, its actually pretty funny.
 
Thank you Mr. Rosen. Listening to you call games has always been a joy, even if the Rangers were pitiful at times.
 
One of the nicest guys in the business. Met him outside our high school on Voting Day many years ago. He gave our team, on our way to the State Championships, a shout out that night on the broadcast. Very awesome.

I hear you on being a positive guy, but his play calling ability is horrible, he has legendary status on awful announcing.com for his football announcing, I'm thinking of posting some of his hockey stuff, its actually pretty funny.
