He's buddies with Zegras since childhood. Maybe we can take some kind of solace in that.

Bumping this article from when he was drafted as a reminder of how stoked he was to be a duck and maybe play with Z. "He joked that his excitement was to the level of 'putting a couple of holes in the wall."

The article also shares that Colangelo is friends with Thrun and Ian Moore, both attended/attending Harvard respectively. Thrun went through the FA route, but informed Verbeek he didn't want to stay with the org. Moore is returning to Harvard for his senior year instead of being signed by Verbeek as soon as his junior season ended.

He's waiting to see where Zegras is traded to before deciding who to sign with.

Can you think of another similar situation where a desirable college student can go UFA in August and signs only a PTO after his college season but before the school year is over?

It’s weird.
And the team production people / front office either don't appear to be on the same page or aren't bothering with the important details.

Gonna leave this here too.

Seen in the team store where people get jerseys customized. Typically you can’t get a player name with an inaccurate number. :dunno:

At Least in his first game, he didn’t seem hesitant to go to the net without the puck. He’s a big boy and hopefully can make a good living in front of the net.

Leason, Lundestrom, and Fabbri have all seen time in the top 6. Colangelo is probably a better fit than any of them. He would be the best goal scorer Carlsson has played with this season probably.

Wrote it in the games thread as well. He looks so big out there. And it seems that he might have these 20g potential.

I remember when Cutter and Colangelo were getting interviewed together last year that Cutter was recounting an incident where he had to borrow one of Colangelo's suit. Cutter didn't realize he had to dress up before an NHL game and, fortunately, Colangelo had a spare. When Cutter put on Colangelo's suit is when he realized just how big Colangelo is. I think Cutter said he was swimming in Colangelo's dress pants to describe how big Colangelo is to Alexis.

Really fascinating to see him play this net front role when his AHL success was as a shooter.

Hopefully our coaches don't try to put him into that box and instead try to get him to excel at both.

He really seems like the real deal. I love that he consitently goes to the right areas to score goals.

No way he goes back to the AHL now... Unless this year he might go once/if the Ducks are out.

I’m all for sending the kids down to help SD make a playoff push if they can’t do it in Anaheim. I think there is value in playoff type games at the AHL level, even though kids like Colangelo have already “felt it” at the international or college level, I “feel” like the pro AHL level is still a completely different beast.

Him transferring to Western Michigan may be one of the most career savvy moves in recent Ducks history. Makes you wonder what his career would have been like if he went there from the start of his NCAA career.

If CHLers start going to NCAA following draft year and I was Porter Martone I would already be enrolled in W. Mich.
