The best offensive defenseman in the league. Who’s surely a one and done and an import. If you’re getting a GOOD prospect in return you’re probably getting one less 2nd or a couple less 3rds I’d imagine. Nearly all the teams in contention have decent imports already you’d likely have to take and that would be figured into the return also possibly.

Zero teams in the OHL have imports as good as Mintyukov, hes the best in the league bar none. Hes an upgrade over literally any of them and over any dman in the league unless Clarke is back in Barrie. If a team is truly going for it, why waste a spot on a "decent" import. Ottawa has an open import spot out east and should be buying. Other teams could waive thier import and upgrade. They arent locked into mediocre players if something else comes along

Haight starting out centering Misa and Mangone. The puck skills on that line are going to be insane. Love moving Willis to the line with Sapovaliv and Loukus as well.

Good to see Forgione back as well

So a team is going to waive an import in addition to giving up a good young prospect and 3 2nd’s and 3 3rd’s? Flint just played Ottawa and Peterborough. Both need other positions or a different type of D much more than they need a Mintyukov. I dont think either will be for sale but I’d take a Logan Mailloux or Jack Matier or Ethan Del Mastro over Minty in a lot of situations. You might want to look at Christian Kyrou’s #’s in Erie too. Why waive an import when you can probably get Kyrou for less than a prospect and 6 picks?

There’s a very good chance both get moved. Having a cheaper option out there doesn’t really change much though. Someone’s making room for Mintyukov however high the price may get despite other “comparable” options out there because they believe he’ll be that piece they need. And DD knows that Mintyukov is the finite supply that dictates his price because as good as Kyrou is, he’s not Mintyukov. Now if Clarke comes back, that’s another story.

How did we miss this? Cam Gauvreau was serving a suspension which ended after last night's game? It's no longer on the OHL web page, but I think it was for the cross checking major penalty he got against Windsor last weekend.

Lots of talk about Misa and deservidly so. Parekh has 10 pts in his last 7 games and has 7 goals in his last 7 games. Crazy numbers for a 06 D, he is going to be a star in this league.
Zayne Parekh is the real deal. At the game tonight, what an offensive defenceman he will become.
Could not agree more. Can see Misa and Parekh on PP lighting it up for years to come.

I joke about Mews from Ottawa for Mintyukov but I didn’t realize Marrelli was also a first rounder. That would almost certainly be a very realistic target plus picks in a possible deal with the 67’s.

So i know this is an exercise in futility because it never would have been possible in reality. But theoretically Saginaw could have iced a starting 5 this year of Misa-Fantilli-Perfetti-Mintyukov-Luke Hughes.

Could you imagine the points they would put up? 😂

As a longtime Saginaw Spirit fan you should know how tough that trip up to and the game in Sudbury can be. Then, next week it’s back to face your arch rival Flint.
I like the team in Flint and Saginaw. The fans in Flint I can do without. 🤣

I know you guys like to crap on former players the second they leave but expanding that to the fans is showing some real initiative.

Oh we crapped on him plenty before you guys signed him as a Free Agent and nobody’s said one bad thing about Petrou, Petrovski, D’Amato, Michelone since they were moved. Maybe he just needed a change of scenery and he’ll turn it around. Enjoy!

Mixing up the lines a bit today. Looks like we’re going to try and match North Bay’s depth instead of front loading the lines. Also end of long week. Probably want short shifts to keep the energy up.

Saginaw’s Twitter feed is awful. They don’t tweet out anything like, “we’re going to the PK/PP”. They don’t tweet when the other team scores. So if it’s 2-2 at the end of the period…Surprise! Other team scored. Like let me take over the account for free please.

If I want play by play, I'll watch, listen or read the box score...I don't need my Twitter feed filled with the play-by-play of the hockey game.

I don't want a play by play either. Heck, I really don't even need the PK/PP stuff. I just want them to tweet out all the goals. I can't catch the radio feed sometimes because Griffins often play the same nights as Saginaw. So I check the twitter feed in between plays. It's just comes off as really insecure to never acknowledge when we get scored on.

The Spirit post the score after each period on Facebook if that helps.

Im guessing the social media person doesn't travel on long road trips with the team. I notice its alot better for home games and one off games in Sarnia vs a whold week long road trip

Kyrou trade likely sets the price Mintyukov goes for. If we get a similar return, that would be outstanding.
I'd argue that we already did better than that in the Bloom trade:

While Hislop is probably a little better skill-wise...Gauvreau brings a toughness and they're both 03's so I call that a wash.

So, you're trading Bloom for a good '05 in Sima, (2) seconds and (3) thirds.

Mintuykov gets you an 05, (3) seconds and (2 or 3) thirds...it's a lot to ask but he is the best defenseman in the league and for those who haven't seen his offense, he's probably better than most team's forwards too.
