Go back to the season prior for Arizona if you don't mind. I recall he didn't have as much of a drag in '20-21 but I don't have them handy.
He played with OEL the most that year

Looks like it was generally a bad pairing

Did better away from OEL in xgf, worse in corsi. Did bring the offense down a little, but with a similar defensive impact

Samuelsson - Dahlin
Power - Joker
Bryson - Lyubushkin

Size, offense, and potential on each pairing. Should be fun…good or bad haha
Yes, but Lyubushkin can also raise if needed, I really like our defense, it is young and balanced, and Lyubushkin will complement it perfectly, because he can play defense, physical. The game is also at PK and may well be played for 16-19 minutes and be fine.

I like him just not penciled in as a top 4. He definitely adds something to the D we didn’t have.

I don't know that he has much solid pk experience, but we'll see. I feel like its one of the more coachable aspects.

I'm not sure this team is gonna have a "top 4" and "bottom pair" next year. Samuelsson-Dahlin is the top pair. Then you've got the other two pairs.
Granato showed last year he will not hesitate to roll out Power with regularity. He is on the 2nd pair with whoever.

That looks like the plan. I also consider that the Sabre's may be waiting for the coaching staff to get a good look at Johnson in the prospect camp this week. If the staff thinks he can make the jump, they could use the third line LHD spot as a lure to get him signed and in house. Tell him you will guarantee him enough games to burn a year on his ELC, as long as he understands that if he can't hold the spot down and needs some seasoning, he will spend time in Rochester to get it.

Love what we're doing. Just as how I designed the off-season. Just get a warm body for a goaltender so long as it is not longer than 2 years. Get a D man who won't take away minutes from the youngsters.

I know some might be disappointed that we're not getting pieces that can push us towards the playoffs, but I'm personally happy that Adams is not Murray'ing this rebuild.

my biggest problem with the end of last season was that you could see the better teams occasionally just remember that they were a better hockey team than the sabres were and then they'd pin the sabres in their zone for minutes, the mighty boosh should help mitigate those issues and the seemingly endless GA that came out of it

having a pairing that we can ice defensively against the super lines will be a huge help in goal differential

Also, a Russian vet to help the kids
This is an interesting stereotype. Can only a Russian vet help Russian kids. Do we say the same thing about Slovaks and Finns? I wonder how much these youngsters actually care or if it's just one of those things we think matter...? I don't know. I guess it doesn't hurt

Yes, I’d absolutely say that if we lacked a Finn or Slovak vet in the room and had numerous prospects

I don't know about the Slovaks and the Finns, but it's important for the Russians to have a Russian player on the team to help them settle in. Different mentality maybe.

Plenty of Europeans, especially the Eastern Europeans, have talked about how the transition to NA can be a huge challenge without someone that they can relate to and speak their native tongue with.

I just asked my wife. She's Russian. She just chuckled. It sounds weird, too. From my experience, they're just like most other humans. Not to mention it's probably more of a culture shock for a Finn given that there aren't many large cities.

I am down with this signing. Just about as good as we could have done and didn't cost us anything. I feel the same way with Comrie.

Cool, I'm Russian too. Basically, it will be easier for them to get used to it, some do not even know the language, it is difficult for them. A new country away from home, especially for young players.
