Ok. I feel better knowing Johnson isnt in the top-4, and Im HAPPY Adams realized he had to revamp 4-6. Joki is likely a goner now.

I dont know enough about Clifton. Is he more of a #5 or did he play second pairing minutes in Boston? All I know is he plays pretty physical.
He was 4th in TOI on the Bs until they got Orlov, which pushed him down.

It's pretty easy to see him playing next to Power and getting lots of PK min. Figure 18-20 min a game.

Bruins fans saying he is definitely not Top 4 and don't expect him to be. Hopefully will just be a good fit with Power and maybe exceeds expectations in our system. Or maybe we make another move.

Worst case scenario...he isn't the Power partner we are looking for, and he takes the 3rd pairing for two seasons after EJ''s one year, at a not crazy cap hit

So next offseason will be the major-league deal trade with the plethora of forward assets. Im OK with that.

I think if you look at the Clifton and Johnson signings as a whole it works better. Neither would necessarily need to play 20+ minutes a night. Granato can even them out a bit so neither is overworked for what they bring in.

As long as Granato trusts them and isn't overplaying the top 3 d-men again this season, it will be a big improvement for the team overall.

It wouldn't shock me if Power plays with both guys during games for exactly that reason.....neither CC nor EJ get exposed by playing too much.

Do you think he's a good signing for the top-4?

He's been one of my favorite targets to step up into a bigger role as a UFA and I appreciate his ferocious nature. He's small, plays like a rabid wolverine dropped on the ice. That can lead to good and bad - sometimes he goes for the hit and is out of position - but he competes around his net like his family's next meal depends on it. The charts are what the charts are, I wanted a nutbar and they got one.

Yeah. Ive noticed he's a physical bastard, which I appreciate, but haven't watched thr Bruins enough to know the finer details of his game. Is he strong defensively? Solid in transistion?

My intitial reaction was we got a slightly better version of Boosh with some more upside.

Regardless, I know you were hoping for a move like this. All we need is someone to fit in with Power. Once Power progresses to the his next level of play he probably won't need a top tier #4. Clifton could be a good fit for him when that time comes. Hopefully, sooner rather than later!

i like the signing at surface level, and granato seems to squeeze +value out of most of his players. excited to see how this turns out

Not really a top 4 defender. Wonder if he will be asked to do things out of his skill set.
