I think the idea that it is Zegras's agent trying to stir stuff up to get movement from the Ducks is the most likely source of the rumor.

With all the D the Sabres have, especially after signing Clifton and EJ, I doubt Adams is looking to give up a massive trade package for Drysdale.
I’d say so for sure. More likely Verbeek “Don’t wanna sign for $x? Ok sounds good we’ll ship you to Buffalo.”

I'd probably do a Zegras deal, but I'd need to know what the ask is.

If it's futures heavy, then of course the answer is yes.
With Adams being unwilling to even discuss a package for Chychrun that included Kulich or Savoie, I just do not see there being a deal that works for both Verbeek (especially given his rumored asking price for Gibson) and Adams.

It's make no sense given the summer Adams just slept through.

But I'm eternally tired of positing every Sabre discussion with 'Adams won't do anything', because it removes the enjoyment.

Disappointment = Expectations - Reality

Keeping expectations realistic is enjoyable for me as it limits disappointment and increases excitement when a fun move actually happens.

Setting aside the fact that he didn't sleep through the summer, it's an interesting metaphor to entertain.

Adams, having done his farmwork and stocked his cupboards, settles in for a summer of rest. While the unprepared GMs scramble all summer attempting to fill their needs with spoiled product. Aesop's "The Ant and the Grasshopper," if you will.

How?

And I've met, talked, and skated with him. He's a cool funny kid who still works out with his old NTDP teammates in the off season in Plymouth, MI like Jack Hughes and Caufield. They love the guy. Tell me more about how he's a douche...
Everyone's nice to their own friends...why would he act like a dick to you, a stranger, or his friends? A person's true colors come out when they face challenges.

Something doesn’t seem right about this rumor. Cannot see this happening in any way
Reporters are just as rusty as the players

Idle speculation is outside the scope of my expectations, so it's an absolute value system, particularly when hockey isn't being actively played currently.

Take this:

I love Patrick Kane. I was so happy to watch him win the cup in 2010. I pass.

Fun to think about though.

Kane is toast.

Him in a Sabres jersey is not fun for me to think about.

Unless Skinner is being traded somewhere, I'm not interested in bringing any big names, or being aggressive to bring in an offensive talent at this point that is an aggressive move like bringing in Zegras. The team is in a good place from financial stand point to reward your young guns and without the numbers being in concrete for Dahlin and Power, I'm not comfortable making further core-impacting moves yet, and Adams has shown he's going to battle with the players that brought him this far. Might as well just stick with it at this point.

I wanted to see upgrades for what is/was the Jost and Mittelstadt lines. Adams decided to go another year with that talent at forward.
