My guess is that you will see one rookie forward on the roster to start the year. The easy guess is Rousek as he was the guy that got a look last year and he is a Swiss Army knife type winger that could play up and down the lineup. It is interesting to see how almost no one here thinks Savoie will even be on the opening night roster. Are we really going to have 0 prospects on the NHL roster this year with how many are waiting for shots? There is no way.
I think Kulich and Benson just by situation alone make their chances essentially 0. Savoie has the inside track due to his situation and as long as he performs well in camp its his. That's not to say he sticks, Rousek gets the nod if he doesn't. 0.0% chance Benson doesn't go to WHL.My guess is that you will see one rookie forward on the roster to start the year. I think there is an outside chance that Benson, Savoie, or Kulich get a look with Quinn out. But, the top 12 Fs to start the season very easily could be these guys:

I do think how much all three have improved over the summer and how they look in camp will matter a ton for them.I think Kulich and Benson just by situation alone make their chances essentially 0. Oh and Savoie is good defensively with PK potential.
I just don't see what is left for Savoie to do in WHL it would be a wasted season. Benson is a year younger so I think Benson's situation next year is Savoie's this year.I do think how much all three have improved over the summer and how they look in camp will matter a ton for them.
And there is a chance that they want Savoie and Benson playing together the whole season. So, if Benson's chances are 0%, that might be the same boat that Savoie is in.

I think Benson has as much left to prove in the WHL as Savoie does. But, slow cooking a prospect is rarely a problem. I could see them sending them both back and then they are with the big club next season with VO, Okposo, Girgensons, and Jost hitting UFA.I just don't see what is left for Savoie to do in WHL it would be a wasted season. Savoie impressed out of camp last year. It is time for him to move up leagues. He will be on the roster and get games and if needed, a stint in roch then world juniors but he is getting his shot this year and Benson will get the exact same next year.I think Benson has as much left to prove in the WHL as Savoie does. Jost was definitely brought in to be a 13th forward imo. Remains to see if he gets in with Quinn injured.Would Jost be like last year's Hino to start, to allow the rookie(s) to play? In this case, Savoie.
I wouldn't think Savoie or Kulich actually have much of a realistic chance of taking Jost's spot (or Oloffson's spot), as much as some fans think this can happen.Would Jost be like last year's Hino to start, to allow the rookie(s) to play? In this case, Savoie.
I agree that Savoie might earn a spot coming out of training camp. I just don't believe that Adams will embrace the Shane Wright path.Savoie impressed out of camp last year. The arguement that I'm finding myself making more & more often - these young guys simply aren't ever going to replace the likes of Okposo & Girgensons.I think Benson has as much left to prove in the WHL as Savoie does. Quinn was a middle 6 winger, our second line. That is not Jost. You know who fits that potential role? Savoie and Kulich.I wouldn't think Savoie or Kulich actually have much of a realistic chance of taking Jost's spot (or Oloffson's spot), as much as some fans think this can happen.
I think it is a yes and no situation for me.The arguement that I'm finding myself making more & more often - these young guys simply aren't ever going to replace the likes of Okposo & Girgensons.
There isn't room for them all. Adams is going to need to make big trade/s. Those might happen later rather than sooner - but he's still going to have to make moves.
VO needs to just leave and have an open competition for his spot it from the prospects would make it so much simplerI think it is a yes and no situation for me.
The skill guys won't replace the 4th line guys. Some people through out a lineup with 4 scoring lines and that just is not going to happen.
So yes, trades are going to need to happen. But, I do not believe that there needs to be "big" trades. The roster evolution could be less "big" moves and more tweaks.
Greenway could end up replacing one of Girgensons or Okposo on the 4th line and open up a top 9 wing spot for a kid.
VO moving along opens up a second top 9 wing spot for a kid.
I think the biggest move might be moving Quinn or JJP for an upgrade over Jost and Krebs+ for help in goal that allows the lineup for next year to look like this:
Skinner-Thompson-Tuch
Savoie-Cozens-Benson
Kulich-Mitts-Quinn
Greenway-TBD-Rousek
Sure. But i do think Greenway will be given every chance at a 'top 9' role & if he secures a spot there - that's one more locked down.I think it is a yes and no situation for me.

When everyone is healthy (and probably even when they aren't) - VOs spot is currently in the press box. People need to stop obsessing about this.VO needs to just leave and have an open competition for his spot it from the prospects would make it so much simpler
He can't go to RochSavoie impressed out of camp last year. It is time for him to move up leagues. He will be on the roster and get games and if needed, a stint in roch then world juniors but he is getting his shot this year and Benson will get the exact same next year.
KA will not have him around to sit in the box. He will play or KA will move him. Greenway was alwaysSure. But i do think Greenway will be given every chance at a 'top 9' role & if he secures a spot there - that's one more locked down.
Greenway potentially brings something that the top 9 is currently missing. So even if he doesn't make it - you could end up in a situation where you're looking to move a Quinn/Peterka/Kulich/Savoie/Benson for someone else who plays a heavier, different type of game but who is less 'skilled'.

Conditioning stint apparently. He can't go to Roch
The middle 6 wingers are JJ, Oloffson, Mitts, and Greenway. Savoie and Kulich don’t make sense on the roster yet since Adams/Donny aren’t sitting Oloffson for either of them to start the season.Quinn was a middle 6 winger, our second line. That is not Jost. You know who fits that potential role? Savoie and Kulich.
Does mitts move up? his slot is open for Savoie Kulich etc. it is realistic and very likely at this point that a prospect draws in.
Id prefer to slot Mitts as 3C since he performed well. The middle 6 wingers are JJ, Oloffson, Mitts, and Greenway. Savoie and Kulich don’t make sense on the roster yet since Adams/Donny aren’t sitting Oloffson for either of them to start the season.
Kulich may have a shot down the line after injuries hit, or if Oloffson really stinks up the place to an unacceptable level…but not to start the season.
Regarding Olofsson - Adams was happy enough having him around towards the end of last season in the pressbox...KA will not have him around to sit in the box. He will play or KA will move him. Greenway was always
Conditioning stint apparently.
Like has been mentioned previously, I doubt they give Savoie the mess that was the Shane Wright treatment last season.Conditioning stint apparently.
