Locks it down, saves time, Bowen gets peace of mind at a number that isn’t a surprise.Wasn't this roughly the arbitration estimate? Who benefits from avoiding it?

I think he is staying. If they went through arbitration then I would feel more strongly that he would be traded this summer.I still think he gets traded, maybe even this offseason still. Having a deal in place reduces risk for the trading team. Now they know what they are getting.
Dude 6.25 is literally about 1/2 of what a top pair D makes - the value is good. Dobson is making almost 10terrible value.
Now you believers in Bo can pretend he is a top pairing Dman for a few more months. It will last about a week into the season
How?? 6.25M is the going rate for legit top 4 defensemen and by the TDL next year, it'll be CHEAP for a top 4 defenseman.terrible value.
We need to trade for Laine. More fans will be happy when we spend to the upper limit.Krebs+RD prospect+pick for a legit 2nd line player? Rakell/mccann/etc.

Plus, this completely justifies what Adams was saying: That Bo wanted a bigger opportunity elsewhere, but had zero qualms coming back here to play. Also I like Adams saying F U to the 1/3 of the league that was evidently offering him underwhelming/futures-based packages for Bo.
And his acquisition remains one of the better 1-for-1 trades in recent league memory.
Nice...work...Adams..?
(I know I know we don't retain) but $3.125 would be awfully attractive if we end up in a selling spot we'd all rather not imagine. How?? 6.25M is the going rate for legit top 4 defensemen and by the TDL next year, it'll be CHEAP for a top 4 defenseman.
There's this nagging thought in the back of my head that says that Kesselring isn't Power's partner -- he's Bo's partner and Ruff is going to give Power-Dahlin a real long leash in regular game situations.Fine deal for both sides. Willing to bet Byram gets traded next year unless he takes a surprising step to show he can effectively run his own pairing and we have very unexpected team success
I don't think he is in any way a top 4 dman. Sucks in his own zone and will never lead a PP anywhere. SoftHow?? 6.25M is the going rate for legit top 4 defensemen and by the TDL next year, it'll be CHEAP for a top 4 defenseman.
and to the Insiders who tried to pimp him to another team (was it 7-9 teams interested, or was that a feed from Adams to pump interest ?Also I like Adams saying F U to the 1/3 of the league that was evidently offering him underwhelming/futures-based packages for Bo.
So you're happy that they signed him to 2 years, instead of 7 or 8?I don't think he is in any way a top 4 dman. Sucks in his own zone and will never lead a PP anywhere. Soft
I said before free agency, some of you would be very disappointed and were unnecessarily getting your hopes up on some type of big return for him, Unfortunately I was right, and the rest of the NHL scouted his games, otherwise we would have an actual useful player in return
it was from his agent trying to get a bidding war going to get anyone to offer anything worth something to the Sabresand to the Insiders who tried to pimp him to another team (was it 7-9 teams interested, or was that a feed from Adams to pump interest ?
Anyone care to daydream on what that would return? Plus a prospect/1st?Byram 50% retained at $3.125m x 2 would have an insane return.
We all know Terry would never allow it.
No. I'd wager a fair bit of money on Adams being done with the roster.
In a world where those are the only 2 options. I guess verySo you're happy that they signed him to 2 years, instead of 7 or 8?
I can’t even pretend to daydream about retaining the f***ing money. Haven’t done it in forever. Even though shipping guys out has been SAVING THEM MONEY. Have to save every penny…roster be damned.Anyone care to daydream on what that would return? Plus a prospect/1st?
What was your value range?terrible value.

$4 million+ player. And I wouldn't even be thrilled with that here just based on roster constructionWhat was your value range?
Given the uncertainty of arbitration, isn't his signing value somewhat independent of whether he is an actual top-pairing d-man?
Alternatives:
No negotiation, wait for club-elected arbitration, possible "bookend" outcome is a 1-year player choice, and at a high arbitration award.
No negotiation, wait for club-elected arbitration, another possible "bookend" outcome is a 2-year player choice, and at a bargain value for BUF.
This signing seems to "split" the middle. Two years at a very fair if not generous award which is similarly not prohibitive to trade down the road.
Not seeking to rationalize, but Byram 2 years $6.25M seems no worse than 5 more years of Samuelson at $4.285M.
Just my opinion...
Byram at 3.125 for 2 years?Anyone care to daydream on what that would return? Plus a prospect/1st?
I think you're criminally underrating the other piece of that JJP deal. What more did a team on a two year regression skid really need to do? They moved out a disgruntled 23 year old top six forward for a #4 D
