Yep. A year riding shotgun with Dahlin should definitely increase Bo's tradeability next offseason should Bo want that bigger role that we can't provide.

And there's always the chance that he actually likes it here and will want to re-sign long-term.

Good deal for both sides. I don't think Buffalo (or probably any other team) wanted to sign him to a max term deal.

I think that Byram wanted a long term deal. But still good money for him, even if it's another bridge deal.

If this season goes sideways, there is always the 2-year playoff rental model at the next trade deadline. And if that doesn't work, next summer or even the next deadline. In the meantime, seems like he'll play with Dahlin and that probably keeps his trade value up.

Most of us didn't want futures for Byram.

I'm okay if he's our "two year rental", even if we lose him for nothing.

It all depends on that second year. Hopefully, we are in the playoff race, and are buyers at the deadline. But if not, we can always recoup some value.
