Rumor: Sabres finalizing another trade (not Byram)

I thought some people were saying that this off-season was going to be boring.
I must remember wrong, or misread something because I can't recall when the off-season was this much fun!

With Tuch gone, you either draft one of the top centers who will fall to you (Malholtra or Bjork), and trade 20th + for a top 6 winger, or you trade 4th overall for a true top line replacement and have 20th drafted to fill the pipeline.

For me, I'd draft a center at 4th overall, and then trade 20th + Ostlund + Levi for Cuylle and Gavrikov from New York if Gavrikov waives. Gives you a middle six PWF and a top 4 replacement for Byram on a great contract AND you get a blue chip center prospect that can step in even potentially this year.

Benson Norris Tage
Doan Mcleod Ostlund
Zucker Helenius Quinn

Where is Benson on the 4th line and Helenius in Roch?

Now add Tuch (or whatever “big splash” forward you wanna get in his stead) back in. And Kulich. There’s an obvious logjam.

Ostlund was already a permanent player. You aren't replacing anyone with him.
He most certainly does replace someone since he moves from being a 3rd line player to a 2nd line player and maybe even onto the 1st line.

Your argument is absurd.

A 3rd line rookie becomes a 1st line player when he excels replacing the 1st line player that was previously there.

huh. You could have Tuch's replacement AND Ostlund. Why would you settle on internal growth? You want to go get a third line winger now that Ostlund is promoted? Ostlund is NOTHING like the player Tuch was. If you tell me Kulich replaces Ostlund's spot you might as well just draw the lottery balls now.

huh? You replace Tuch's production with Helenius and Ostlund or you think Ostlund only get 27 points next year and Helenius gets zero?

Tuch is a goner. I’ve liked a lot of what Buff has done so far, but will be interesting to see how they fill the void left by two really key players to their success last year.

If they resign malenstyn and benson for a total of 10m. Kulich startsvin AHL, , bury danforth.. they will have 12/6/3 with a F and D spot.

They also sitting on levi, krebs, and ryan johnson.

It will be intetestingbto see what moves they make

They have mrtka and Strbak -' both RD start I ng ELCs next yrar ( mrtka could slide). At 4 they could pick another D snd thry hsve a couple other prospect RD.

If they want a vet RD its a short term player.

Ostlund was on the roster. Ostlund getting better is internal growth. You can have that AND say Knies. You are saying no let's just bank on his growth. That's bad and you're asking for trouble. Sabres do not have a top line player outside of Tage. Saying Ostlund will be a true top line winger next year is kind of crazy.

lol WHAT. Dude almost died why would you assume anything.

Kulich wasn't close to dying, what are you talking about?
