Ryane Clowe

Personally, I think Clowe has more hockey sense in his pinky than Clarkson does in his entire body.

Injuries are a legitimate concern with Clowe, so I'm not saying he should be retained no matter what.

But all things being equal I take Clowe over Clarkson without hesitation.

If you had to pick one, sure.

Hopefully neither of them suit up in NYR next year.

Devils fans always complain about how little hockey IQ (and probably any real IQ too) Clarkson has.

But sure, let's sign him. Not like we don't already have plenty of morons on the team.

Both players are largely inefficient, Clowe moreso because he is rather useless now that he doesn't work the front of the net on the PP as he did before. We already have Callahan doing that. Clarkson is much better due to his ability to get shots on net and working in a breakout Devils system in ES. I do fear he was carried by Elias though. In a perfect world, neither put a NYR sweater ever. But it is inevitable that this management is deluded by toughness and grit that they'll forget all other facets of the game.

Don't know why everyone is hating on Clowe. He looked pretty solid pre-injury. Also guys like him go beast-mode in the playoffs. Hopefully he's back soon.

hahah clarkson is not signing here boys! lets be real, he will get 4-5m on the open market.. he def wont be in a devils jersey thats for sure, but no way its with ours... the real question should be do we sign clowe or go after horton.. honesty even though he has concussion issues he would fit in well here.. but i doubt boston lets him go, might due to cap like us, but all said and done, clowe will sign, jsut dont think it will a ridiculous contract like everyone is thinking!!

It also doesn't help that we're playing a Torts system. You wonder sometimes if some of these players have higher IQs. We'll never know since they will always:

#1. Dump
#2. Chase
#3. Turnover
#4. Oddman Rush
#5. Lundqvist save
#6. Breakout where everyone pretends they're skating in concrete
#7. Dump again

This of course excludes Brad Richards who turns the puck over before he hits his own blue line.

Yeah I'd rather pay 4 for Dubinsky than even 3 for Clarkson.

Say no to Clarkson.

Everyone getting amped up about Clarkson need to realize that he's playing for his junior coach in DeBoer, and getting PP time, and confidence, and having a guy that knows his ins and outs. How many devils have transitioned well crossing the river? Zero? A disastrous zero? Remember Gomez? Holik? Driver? Maclean?

Clarkson - 7 pts in the last 28 games of the season

I like him, but his 30 goal season was as much a fluke as Boyle's 20 goal season.

Pass on Clarkson and I like the physical guys that go to the net.

Even if Clowe doesn't play in the post-season?

Yes

Clarkson would be a bad signing. Clowe would not be.

I still think he will be a useful player for this team. No more than 3 or 4 years though.

"Might be a useful player" and "3 or 4 year contract" just dont sit right with me.

If he wants a 1-2 year deal to prove hes over the injuries and could be an effective player, fine. If hes looking for a big pay day and a long term, see ya.

He will be a useful player is what I said.

I'll let the doctors figure out of these injuries will be chronic or not

Willing to gamble 3+ years, and $10+ million on that?

Hey, its not your money.

Yes. For a player like Clowe, yes.

I'll take that gamble over 60+ million on Richards.

Clowe is a useful player and he can play anywhere in the top-9 for that price. Even if he deteriorates to a 3rd liner, he would be a good 3rd line winger on pretty much any team with his size, strength, ability to control the wall and drop the gloves.

I think hes well on his way, if not there already.
