Not sure I got the right episode, the link didn’t work, is it when he jumped Kessel. That was great in any case.

What's the point of the immediate extension? Lol
Is there even one NHL team with 3 longterm centers? I can't think of one.
Better detergent than Tanner Glass. Yes, detergent.
Lol I'm glad someone does because I don'tI googled the difference between detergent and deterrent earlier so I know what you are doing here.

He looks fit and young...this is going to be fun...MSG should rock like before renovation
Okay here goes the second post
I don’t think any player is a true ‘deterrent’ in today’s NHL. Reaves will help keep most players honest but there will always be guys willing to cross the line because they are either wired that way or need to in order to stay in the NHL.
In saying that, the reason I have been so determined in my defense of acquiring Reaves over the last year has been more about instilling a culture of aggression into the young players the Rangers are developing. If this organization is going to be successful long term, they need to be able to set the tone and answer the bell on a nightly basis. Often times this is less physical and more mental and requires actual development in an area where most skilled young players have never had to develop up to this point.
We’ve seen for a couple of seasons that this team has not been able to consistently answer physical play even outside of playoff hockey. We have also seen what physical play can do to teams both inside and outside of playoff hockey. It’s still an important element in today’s NHL.
All of that being said, my expectation for Reaves is to come in and be this teams tougher Matt Martin. Someone who brings energy on a nightly basis, throws clean, yet very effective body checks, and answers the bell when other teams may be close to crossing the line to calm things down for the younger developing players on the team.
He’s not going to be some Robocop bully every night but his presence can be felt by doing the above which is exactly what he has done for Vegas for a few seasons. He’s effective at exactly that role and while it’s not ‘sexy’ in terms of stats, it’s also something I am more than excited to have added to a team like this one that is currently constructed.
Yes exactly. That's what Ryan Reaves is.Haha, I think that if you have water and want to dislove fat, you need a detergent like soap.![]()
My humble take: If people want to say Reaves can set a tone from the fourth line and in the locker room, can give the star players a perception of protection, give some possible vengeance against a transgression (maybe at some point) and not be as awful as Howden was last year, I can concede that.
but....
Saying that Tom Wilson did what he did to Buch/Panarin because of the Rangers lack of grit and leadership and Wilson will absolutely never do that now that Reaves and co are here just doesn't hold much water with me. I'll say it a different way this time:
The same thing happened to the evidently "lacking in leadership and grit" Bruins a month earlier. The Blues went through the same thing (twice), the Pens went through the same thing (twice)...etc. ALL lacking in leadership and grit???
....or Tom Wilson does what he does to all those teams because that's who Tom Wilson is as a player. Just as Bryan Marchment, just as Steve Downie, just as Matt Cooke, etc, etc were before him.
Reaves was on the Knights when Wilson laid out Marchessault with that big hit in game 1 of SC finals (Vegas won that game). Wilson knew who Reaves was before that game. Didn't stop him. Vegas lost the next four games and the series. Reaves played in three of the games and then not in the last.
Reaves gave Wilson a receipt a year later in the 2nd game between the two teams. Felt really good. Didn't fundamentally change Wilson as a player though.
Then maybe the same thing should happen to Carlson, or Ovechkin or Backstrom or Oshie. Reaves is just the man to do it, did you see how Reaves responded to what Graves did to Janmark? After the whole incident where basically everyone but Capitals fans thought the book should be thrown at Wilson. The NHL did nothing, so from this day forward the Rangers will take matters into their own hands. You take out Panarin, we take out Ovechkin and so on! Thats when players take notice.

I'm pissed about the continued terrible asset management (f*** you Drury, you still suck), but at least it seems like a lot of these guys really want to be here
Why would I ask that? Wilson is not a 4th line plug. Why was Panarin on the ice with Wilson, you could ask?
Of course it would. Has anyone’s reaction detected Wilson yet?Yup and next shift Reaves rag dolls Backstrom....thats how its done, it would never happen again.
Exactly right. So many nonsense posts about “no such thing as a deterrent”. Literally? No. It’s the aspect of Martin’s or Wilson’s own stars getting pounded and now they can’t do anything about it with the fists.I think the deterrent thing is still there but to me it’s more about the hunter becoming the hunted. It’s a lot easier for Matt Martin to focus on making our guys miserable when he never has to worry about watching his own back or his best players backs. Instead of running around Scott free he has his hands full with a great white looking to bury him and pelech or Dobson any chance he gets. His hands are full dealing with that instead.
Why is that? Because he KO’d a teenager? He barely handled Dubinsky, he won’t do anything against the new guys.Good luck trying to take out Ovechkin.
