No doubt. But his tenure as a Leafs has come to an end. All these injuries and suspensions has shine some light on other players. They have thrived and earned a spot

I look at someone like Minten. Definitely earned a spot
Steeves, you can tell he has some NHLer in him. He's only 24
Grebs, very raw but hasn't looked out of place

1.5 million dollar for a feel good guy is too much. He can be part of the team, if he plays every 3 or 4 games as a reliever
I would have to agree with Minten and Grebs. I would have Reaves in over Steves imo. But either way, I would try and keep him around somehow. Tre signed him first thing on free agency and Berube plays him almost every change he gets. So clearly they like/value him differently than some fans.

I'd love to see the team do with him what they did with Muzzin during his final year. Offer him a role as an assistant coach or in the organizations player development group.

He's seemingly well liked, so would keep him around the team but leaves the roster open for another, younger player

Muzzin was able to have the two contracts without the PA or league throwing a fit, don't see why they can't do it again

Muzzin was hurt and couldn’t play though, no?

I agree with you.
Reaves has 2 roles
1. Protection of other players
2. When the team seems to need spark, needs to grow a pair, step up and beat the tar out of someone.

No sure how #1 is going, when he is out nothing seems to intimidate the team
2, he has not done this and not sure he is capable anymore

Not sure the one big hit or whatever is worth it. Another Alex is better post. Would rather another Knies type player but that's hard to find. Reaves is pretty much kills a line every shift he takes and only matters if he energizes a line with a fight or big hit.

True. But he still has an active player contract when hired as a scout by the Leafs
I think it would be seen as cap circumvention. What's to prevent the Leafs from paying $9m in the off-season to Marner as a player, with another $5m to act as a "consultant" for player development? With Muzzin it was different since he was all but retired

Reaves has no function. Maybe if you played a rivalry game in a hostile environment on the road with goons and big bodies everywhere you want to have the extra protection… but on a routine regular season game he just has no function.

Maybe they could insert him into the lineup against someone like Montreal after their goon jumped one of our players?

He's useless and doesn't even do the only thing he is good at.

His hit on Nurse was the best thing he did for the team this year.
