Seems steep.

But with him out, Jarnkrok/Patches still injured and say Matthews isn't ready?

What are we looking at?

McMann - Tavares - Marner
Knies - Domi - Nylander
Steeves - Dewar - Robertson
Lorents - Kampf - Holmberg?

What kind of response is this? Terrible take. It was a hit to the head. End of sentence. Makes no difference if it was Nurse or Ceci. Reaves intention means nothing. What Nurse may have done is baseless. If you think it was a legal hit, take off the blue tinted glasses.
It was a shitty hit no doubt, it was as reckless on Reavos part as it was on Nurse'.

coming around the net with your head down is as reckless as you can get. It's pro hockey there are no friends out there.

As far as Reaves goes, if Nurse had started looking up ice as he should have been and opening up to get the puck up ice, then the hit was probably going to be worse. See Reaves 225lb frame hit the Oiler crest, broken sternum??? There was no intent at all and why 5 games is too much. If Reaves tries to duck it, avoid it or stop up, it's likely he sustains an injury, but there was blood from the cut just above Nurse' brow, and if you ever have had one, then you know it means a real gusher and looks worse than it is.

I'm just glad Nurse wasn't hurt all that badly

Reaves has had toxic vibes all season, not doing his job. He wont fight Rempe, Arbour X, he didnt respond to Zhadorov slamming team-mates head off the ice. Nurse is overpaid 9.5 million and is hearing the chatter about his contract, ive never seen talk arrogant etc. Nurse spends his summers with Gary Roberts trying to keep improving his game. Reaves targetted his head, he saw Nurse puck watching looking down to control the puck and went into bully mode/inflicted a cheap shot. If u play hockey or football , u know when its lined up perfectly and that person has no way out.

All media ghouls are so happy to come up with some shitty articles and analysis re Reaves suspension. When Jeannot did that to Boeser there were crickets, business as usual. I wish we had Nashville media scene, just enjoying the hockey without all this unnecessary hype and hysteria.

Not trying to defend Parros, but no matter what verdict he handed down, there would be large swaths of people calling him an incompetent idiot for his decision. Personally, I thought it was about right; perhaps a tad on the side of steep. Then again, I don’t believe that Reevo targeted his head with intent.

Yeah, this one is ok, and I don't think it is at all too steep.
He may not have targeted the head but he was pretty reckless.
My problem with Parros is so many of the suspensions are so short for the infraction that they are a joke. I am in favour of much longer suspensions for actions that can injure other players.
I've never understood why the players association doesn't agree.

how was this hit worse then the jeannot one?

I guess the jersey added a couple for good measure
It seems reasonable that Reaves would be suspended for the that play, but the combination of the broadcast crew calling for an execution and general Parros bias towards Toronto seems to have made it a little longer than it should have been.

I'm ok with the suspension, but it being longer than what Jeannot got just shows that league remains bush.

I don't see that at all. If anything, maybe Parros hates Reaves? This hurts him more than the team. Just because you guys say there is a bias, doesn't make it so.

Oh, FFS, the world is changing. The NHL does not want the head to be the first point of contact. This hit, in spades, had the head being the first point of contact. Bitching about equality of retribution, Parros et al, is a waste.
