On further analysis I have a hard time seeing what reaves did wrong. He went through the body, didn’t elevate or stick anything out, Nurse just had his head at a stupid angle and made it the principle point of contact.

Seems like bad awareness in Nurses end and Reaves was just big. Bad recipe.
It’s the responsibility of the player throwing the hit to not make the head the primary point of contact unless the the player that got hit suddenly changes direction.

He could have just hit him in the shoulder. Would have been a massive hit that may have hurt Nurse anyway with how unaware he was Reeves was coming.
But it would have been clean.

But Reeves missed his core and clipped his head because he just isn’t very good. And as such he deserves the suspension he is probably going to get.

Not make the head the main point of contact, which he could’ve done if he were a better hockey player
Do you guys realize at the pace the game is played at lmao.

A fraction of a second can be the difference between making head contact or not.

It's always ironic that players are expected to fight after clean hits.

Yet when Reaves makes an arguably dirty hit and knocks your player out, no one looks twice at him.
Pretty dumb take.

Who would fight Ryan Reeves that was on the ice? Connor Brown? Adam Henrique? Mattias Janmark?

It wasn't "head hunting" But he was trying to destroy Nurse with a huge hit. He caught a lot of chest but he also got the head at the same time.

It wasn't the worst hit but 5 minutes was the right call.
Trying to destroy isn’t illegal though. Just unfortunate.

Let's be honest, Reaves missing games for the Leafs actually makes them better. If they really wanted to punish them, he should be forced to play 20 minutes per game.
Nope. He deserves to be sat for a long time. Given George's history, if he chooses to be lenient this one time, I'd be livid.

A stupid angle? He's in the position any player would be carrying the puck like that lol. What a ridiculous take.

Yeah but if he hits Nurse’s head while throwing a hit through the chest WITHOUT extending any limb or raising his shoulder then I think the most common hockey phrase applies here for sure, “keep your head up”

Agreed, accidents happen, but you are still responsible for your actions
100% that's why he got 5 and a game, no ? Unless he didn't, in which case there will be definitely some.

Maybe gets a game, so a total of "2"

The league wants players to he accountable for their hits and kicking Reaves out and giving him 1 might have players thinking twice before throwing a hit, which sucks for the fans, but is good for the player's health.

Kind of looks like it's a normal hit except for his shoulder getting Nurse in the head.

Doesn't seem to jump, or elbow, but does extend the elbow to explode into him after contact.

I'm guessing the 5 and kicked out is possibly all he gets unless the angles in the replay don't do the hit justice.
Read that first sentence a couple of times lol

Not a fan of either team.

2 Games

Gotta keep your head up. On ice awareness.

He got his head with the shoulder. Didn't leave his feet. Just a big body throwing a big hit that connected at the face before the shoulder.
