Miller has roots in California (his wife, actually).
1 year remaining on his contract.

Would probably take a 3rd + B Prospect to pry him from Vancouver, but it may salvage the Kings' season.

Thoughts?

Rather just ride it out and see if they can score a goalie off the waiver wire.

50% retained would be a must, or Greene coming back.

If the Canucks know they have a desperate trading partner I hope they don't let him go for anything but a 1st. Salary could be retained easily.

Miller is my favorite option for the Kings, of the rumoured Pavelec/Mason/Berra etc.

MIne as well especially now with Marc Andre Fleury (eklunds rumour) added to the list. However i don't see what we will give up for him I hope we can convince them to take one of dwight king , matt greene With salary retained or dustin brown straight up. I don't see why van would do that but i can hope

Why would a team contending for the cup this year trade their #1? LA would need to add a lot more than a third and a B prospect to get him.

Miller being a UFA and not awful like pavelec is what makes this a good option

Im not opposed to moving Miller but would want a potential piece towards our rebuild coming back, Clauge or Kempe are really the only pieces that would intrigue my interest.

Kempe is for sure not going the other way He is our top prospect and one of the only top 6 prospects we have Sorry not available. As for Clauge don't see it we just drafted him and our scouts were pretty high on him.

They really need to do something. My god, Zitpop has been terrible or whatever his name is.

Miller makes sense for them. Pavelec is brutal, Berra is probably just a backup.

I think Mason would do well there. Even Neuvirth would probably be an okay option there.

Why would a team not contending for a cup this year (Kings) give up a lot more then a 3rd or B prospect for a goalie that will just hurt their draft position.

Nothing against Miller. I just don't see how he helps the Kings. They have more issues then just a goalie. It's like trying to patch one of the holes on the Titanic.

if we can attach a bad contract to this deal i could see it being helpful in the resigning of toffoli and pearson Also if its greene it opens a spot for gravel or ladue being called up win win to me

Canucks do not have enough NHL goalies to trade one.

Canucks do not benefit from LA saving their season.

Miller should have greater value at the deadline.

And if you think the Canucks are going to take back Greene at 2.5 for 2 years with out making it VERY worth there while your crazy. We have our own salary problems and need all the cap space possible.

Even with Jimbo at the wheel you are not likely to receive Miller for anything short of a 1st or second draft pick or a decent prospect plus a pick. Don't want to pay that? So be it. We're in no rush to trade him, we don't have an injured #1 goalie with no replacement and we want to contend for a playoff spot. Why should we assist a rival in doing the same while receiving no incentive? Miller could very well sign on another year with us or retire a Canuck, who knows?

edit: got rid of my proposals. We need a goalie coming back with a high pick or we risk losing Markstrom to the expansion.

edit II: Amadio + 2nd + Zatkoff + Greene is roughly what it would take to have us consider. If we were an eastern team it would be more like a 2nd + Budaj but were your rival plus you need to shed some salary.

the 2nd round pick is more then worth taking greene on for the extra year Goalies have little value on there own especially ufa ones Your also getting a backup signed for another year
