It’s not crazy, they’d be silly to do it. If they do then the team has learned nothing from Girardi and Staal.
Thanks for time guys, we’ll let someone else pay you your retirement contract where you’re bound to break down
Dude is gonna get a nice hike. Part of me says, let him walk, tear it down and let him be someone 8x8 IR problem.Defense FALLS apart without him. But yet people want to trade himOh nooo he will get soo much money at 4M

The UFA market is insane. You never know. I could certainly see $7MM for a depleted team that’s just a defensive defenseman away from winning the whole thing. Maybe Florida? He’s not getting 8M.
That's why they should get it done now instead of letting it get to ufa bidding. Lindy needs to be kept here. Tires just got 7.25x7, Lindy is gonna get 5-6 most likely. Just as long as there’s no NTC or NMC. Otherwise, he can walk wherever he likes. I’m done with these clauses. That's why they should get it done now instead of letting it get to ufa bidding. We fall to 0-55-14 in games in which Lindgren doesn’t dress.
He will absolutely get some kind of clause, but it's not a big deal as long as we don't go too far with it.Just as long as there’s no NTC or NMC. Otherwise, he can walk wherever he likes. I’m done with these clauses.
I fully agree with all of this. My only view is that I doubt we make it all the way, so a sign and deal (to initiate the rebuild) may be our best long-term option. He will absolutely get some kind of clause, but it's not a big deal as long as we don't go too far with it.
He will be 26 when his next contract starts. He's not eligible for a movement clause in that first year, so IF we wanted to trade him before July 1st, 2025, we could. The problem there is that we have absolutely no one to replace him. Robertson hasn't developed. Jones isn't good enough defensively. Maybe Scanlin can carve out an NHL career, but he's probably no more than a 6/7. Fortescue looks promising and Larsson is intriguing, but neither are likely to be playing in the NHL in 2025.
That leaves trade or UFA, and the odds of us finding a dman as good or better than Lindgren at a lower cost is pretty slim.
I'd be fine giving Lindgren 5 years @ 5.5 mil, with years 2 and 3 having an NMC and years 4 and 5 having a 10 team NTC. That gives us a window of only 2 years where we can't trade him, but he'll be 27-29 in those years. He should still be an effective player in those years, and we'll need that time to find his replacement.
We're going to need to draft some dmen. Fox, Miller and Lindgren are the only guys we can count on long term. Trouba is solid but expensive, and Schneider hasn't developed enough to take his place. Maybe by the end of the year, things will look different, but I'd be eyeing a dman in the 1st round in 2024.
I don't know that there's a rebuild in our near future. Yes, the older guys are still our best players in many cases, but in net and on defense, we are young. Plus, I can't see Dolan agreeing to another tear down and rebuild, even a short rebuild like the last one.I fully agree with all of this. I agree with all of this. Good catch on the Dolan part: I was wearing my GM hat, not taking into account the impatience of our owner. Fair play.I don't know that there's a rebuild in our near future. Our best bet is to hold onto our higher draft picks and keep adding youth, and hope that the guys we have already continue to progress. A well-run organization feeds itself:
Draft wellDevelop those drafted players so they can replace the older playersTrade the older players for futures and use those futures to provide the next wave of playersAdding players through trades and free agency should be to fill gaps, for the most part. The majority of our core needs to be built through the draft if we want to have long-term success.
