Obviously the only reason why Johnson is coming to development camp is so he can tell Adams in person that he's not signing.....

Right??
That wouldn’t be very Ryan Johnson like. He’s going to tell him he hasn’t decided. He’ll be 60 years old still sitting at home trying to figure out his next move here

“So even if you go back would you still be signing with he Sabres at the end of the year?”

”I love the Sabres organization”

”…ok…but does that mean you’ll be signing at the end of the…”

At least we will have 4 2nd round picks next year to not use in trade to help anytime soon

I’m not sure what has more value honestly. Johnson…or the second round pick combined with everyone saying guys always sign and everyone who thinks they won’t is a fool having that card taken away for a while. Again

I believe it would be a 2024 late 2nd as the Sabres own his rights until mid-August 2023.

The way he speaks wouldn't be surprised to see him traded in the next few days
There's no trade. Sabres get a 2nd in compensation if they let him walk in UFA next year. No team is going to give you more than that. Especially if that team might have the inside track on signing him next year without giving up assets.

Only dumb GMs like Tim Murray would waste picks chasing after a soon to be college grad free agent. And even he only gave up a 3rd.

He's kind of a spare part anyway. It would be nice to have the asset, but frankly, he's not critical to their plans. The bigger issue I have at this point is the asset is tied up until next august. They can't even use the comp pick until he doesn't sign, and no one in the right mind would trade anything for his rights.

Well good news because they aren’t interested in using assets to improve the team so it doesn’t matter

The sabres hold a lot of the cards in this situation

But if the communication is there and its strictly just the sabres he doesn't want to play for, why wouldn't a team trade more than a late 2nd 2 years from now if they know he will sign said team

If he would sign with another team for this season then his rights would hold value.
