He's not putting up as many goals so it's not as flashy. But we have Jenner, Hartnell and Saad all scoring goals which we didn't really have last season. What we really need is Foligno to pick up his scoring. He's got as many shots as Jenner and nothing to show for it.

For those to lazy to look up stats. That is in order of Shots. Saad with 63, Hartnell with 50. He's also tied for 2nd to last for +/- with -10 tied with Karlsson and only 1 ahead of Prout. He's also tied for 4th in PIM on the team.

I know stats aren't everything, but a quick snapshot tells you he is in need of some adjustments as this isnt typical of him. He's bound to shake it off eventually. . .right?

You need to charge your phone.
Agree with Foligno.

Here's the scary part - if Jason Chimera were still on our squad, he'd be 4TH in goals scored.

If Jason Chimera were still on this squad, he'd spend too much time going offside and shrieking at officials to score a single goal.

here is a question (Oiler fan so feel free to attack)

say if at the draft table the oilers dangled both Hall and Nuge--but where asking for Murray, Hartnell and Johanson--what would you response be? that offer being the starting point

We'd say no. We'd be adding on quite a bit of cap while losing our best roster defenseman.

The cap isn't much of an issue there, it's pretty close. And the value isn't insanely bad. But there's no way we're trading Murray, as you say, and probably not Joey either if we're not improving our D in the process.

We wouldn't be adding a lot of cap. Murray's new contract would chew up most if the discrepancy.

Nuge is inferior to Johansen, at least to this point. Value wise, Hall is worth Hartnell/Murray.

Sure it's probably a not, but at least it's not an abomination of a fantasy ask.

I actually like Nuge just as much as Joey, if Nuge can stay healthy. And Hall is better than Murray/Hartnell, i agree. But it just turns us into the 2012 Oilers. There's no way Jarmo could do something like this without first having a top D or two locked down.

The only Oiler that can return Johansen is out with a broken collarbone. To add Murray gets close to impossible.

I think Hall is definitely worth more than Hartnell or Murray - but its more of a case that we're just not looking for him right now. We need D!

I think Edmonton has the same problem as us - lot of young forwards. So probably not a good match - as others hae said we need d-men (young d-men).

Lot of talent on the Oilers but likely doesn't fit.

Dude can't win a face off and really isn't much of a goal scorer. Exactly what we're looking for.

The more that national media guys weigh in on the topic, The more I really think they make this trade happen:

Especially Bucc, I suspect he has some insight in that relationship.

I still don't trust Jarmo to make this trade. I see a deal where we get a cap dump and a large number of futures

Why? Because he's on TV? He isn't reporting anything here. Just his opinion.

I was kind of amazed when I checked Joey's stats. He is projecting to 65 for 82 games.

The 19 points he has so far have to be the quietest 19 points ever. I remember one or two but other than that not much is memorable.

I think Joey is the reincarnation of Rick Nash. Extremely talented with a fragile ego/psyche that causes him to disappear for long periods. When he is on he is brilliant;when he isn't he is invisible.

I don't see him turning into a consistent player who you want to build your team around, especially one who will want top dollar in his next deal. Best thing that could happen is we trade him for a really good D man although I find it hard to believe anyone makes that trade mid-season.

I know many here still disagree and that is fine but until he plays an entire season like he did during "the streak" last season I'll let someone else pay him mega bucks.

There were two different Howson's: there was the Howson being Howson who was a terrible GM; and then there was the Howson being guided by Patrick who did a pretty decent job of re-shaping the team.
