Boston offers former 1rst 2nd round pick A. Koklachev (minimal interest) , former 1rst round pick Malcom Subban (not a pressing need), Top 6 D-man Zach Trotman (who?) , Former first round p1ck Brett Connolly (hard pass) and a future 2nd round pick for Johansen and Rychel.

Any interest? None whatsoever

Columbus adds a third round pick and Boston includes PK specialist JK. huh?

My thoughts listed above. Move along friend.

That would get Poile lynched. But as a Jackets fan first... yeah, sure. :D

Johansen is worth Josi. Last year Johansen was worth far more than Josi. I don't think Nashville would make the trade, I think it's too risky for them with Johansen's current performance, and I don't care what Nashville fans think. Fans of their team always over inflate their players as far as trade value.

You generally trade from your strength. Our is a center, theirs is at defense. If they want to run with what they have a center, more power to them. I can't stand that team anyway and I really can't stand their arena experience. I get annoyed every time I listen to Nashville at home.

As far as Fisher, he's about done. I know some of us are joking, but I wouldn't want him.

Not sure why I went to the Eklund comments, but he elaborates a bit more for what it's worth. What I think it implies is:

Joey + Hartnell for Ekholm + "much more".

Trading Joey and not getting exactly what we want is a huge mistake.

The "much more" had better be something stupid like Ellis and Kamenev. And even then I'd be disappointed.

If we trade Johansen and get a 3-5 LHD "with upside"... :shakehead

You wouldn't have to worry about it. Assuming there isn't some gem with the rest of the deal JD would end him before you got to him.

Don't be ridiculous. You may not have faith, but they aren't morons.

Paul McCann, the Predators Hockeybuzz blogger\their in-arena announcer said that there's been a good deal of chatter about a potential Nashville\Columbus deal in the last 24 hours.

He does write for HB, but he typically doesn't comment on Eklund's "rumors," so there may be something to it.

Johansen + Clarkson

for S. Jones + Smith

Only way I can somewhat accept this trade.

“It’s different. It’s a little weird, to be honest. You see your names in these comments and funny things. People have some interesting comments. But I love being a Blue Jacket. I love playing in this city. It’s my job to play to my abilities. When you’re not, you’re going to be in those conversations. Does he belong here? Do they want him here? But if I do my job and play my game do what I’m capable of, that stuff will start going away. I’m just trying to get my game back to the level that I want it to be. For me, it’s been a tough first half of the year. I know that.”

Torts: “Quite honestly, I like the kid. I think certain days we have great progression. Other days, it’s a step backward. But he is 23…years…old (bangs podium, pauses between words for emphasis). There is a ton there with him, and we’re going to try to get it out of him.”

I still think this whole thing is overblown. Everyone knows it'd be borderline insane to give up on him.

It's not like he's Johnny Manziel...

With the injury to Calvert I do not want to see Hartnell included with any trade of Joey.

If they can pawn Jojo off on someone in a good trade, theyd be crazy not to. He clearly doesnt want to be in Columbus anymore.
I was at the game vs Washington last weekend and until they called his name for getting an assit, I didnt even notice that he was in the game. Thats a HUGE change from previous years, when he was a leader and a playmaker.

If the scout and the broadcaster dump Johansen, then the CBJ will have a corps of centers who probably don't have a much more than a 50 point scorer among them.

Dubinsky, against top competition, is no more than a 50 point scorer.

Jenner, is a poor passer of the puck, and would be lucky to get 45 points.

Wennberg is a wild card, but I am confident he's not a Johansen type of player. Against first line competition, he's probably a sub 50 point getter-even in a few years.

Well right now RyJo is not much more than 50 point center.

You're right. 53 point pace this season.

If you think that's his true value, then don't expect a top defender and more coming back. Expect a low first round pick and a middling dman at best.

The more they play, the more comparable they really are. Next year will be the true telling year for Wennbergs potential development path.

Johansens rookie year, he played 67 games and had 21 pts. -2

Sophmore year he played 40 games and had 12 pts, -7. Hw also played 40 games in the AHL and had 33pts, +11

Wennbergs rookie year, he played 68 games, had 20 pts and a -19. As well as 6 games in the AHL with 3 pts and a +6

This year(sophmore year) hes played in 28 games thus far, has 13 pts and is only -2

So if anything, at this point Wennberg is ahead of Joey. Also Wennberg has shown absolutely no sign of any "character or attitude issues". Just like Joey in his first two seasons we see very strong defensive abilities and the rest of his game gets better almost daily.

I think the biggest difference between the two is their style of play.

Joey has the size and ability to use his body more, has the threat of shooting from anywhere and scoring and drawing players towards him to open up the ice and make a beaut of a pass.

Where as Wennberg uses his IQ to make things happen. He can read the play extremely well and can anticipate what players are going to do a few steps ahead of everyone else. Allowing him to draw players to him or after the puck and then sending the puck to the open area he just created. Or just moving the puck in general, his hands are just :yo: :yo:

If Wennberg can ever develop his shot....oh boy..

Even without the Calvert injury...

Agree. I have no idea why anyone would gravitate towards Hartnell as the high salary veteran in any Joey trade. To me, the best fit for that role would be Clarkson.

I still hate the idea of trading Johansen in any way, shape or form. It would represent a failure of the highest magnitude from an organization that has far more failures than successes. Things like this kill franchises, IMO. I understand that from a business perspective it makes sense to deal him if you don't trust him enough to pay him what he's going to demand, but I still don't like it.

]While I do not want to trade Hartnell right now (clearly and unequivocally stated) and not a veiled way of suggesting tanking, depending on the return I think you have to consider it.

Why?

Hartnell is not getting any younger and carries a 4m+ cap hit for the next two years. IF the return is right then I would do it. It would have to be very good but never say never.

I'm discussing this on the trade board, too. It just seems like an add that wouldn't get a decent return.

I'm not crazy about moving Hartnell either, but it's inevitable.

However, Hartnell can bring in enough in his own deal without being a throw in/salary dump in a Johansen deal. I'd reserve that role for someone that would be a lot harder to move...say, Clarkson...
