Making a pre meditated non hockey play that could have paralyzed a player is a bit extreme too, no,?

If he had used his stick to do it I think a long suspension would've been guaranteed. I'd guess because hes a repeat offender, maybe 10 games.

We all know if guys don't get seriously injured, DOPS takes that into account.

how many games?

Somehow, I’m more bothered by the word “sussy”

Seriously though, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like that off of a faceoff. The number of games under consideration should probably start at 5. I wouldn’t think it overboard if he got even more than a 5 game suspension.

Well he has a point. Hope Bieska wasn't implying hamonic should have indulged Hartman but Hartman was motivated to spark the team and get the sens riled and he escalated when the first idea didn't work.
That is exactly what Bieksa was implying Hamonic should have done. The take makes no sense.

When I looked at the review last night it looked like he landed on his body and Stutzle's head just happened to hit the ice. That replay shows he went up high and rammed his head into the ice. Should be 20 games. With Dops probably 1 game.

It's the old school hockey mentality. Bieksa had to be the Hamonic role more than a few times and it's his default understanding of how these things work. Op's pest starts shit and if no one does anything about it soon your skill guys are getting hammered.

That’s not how it works, not even old school. It’s not like Hamonic had taken a run at Boldy and Hartman wanted to fight him because of that. Hartman just wanted to fight because his team was flat, targeting star players on the other team becuase a fight in a 3-0 game about nothing was turned down is dumb no matter what era.

I've been saying for years that he's a good player when he keeps a cool head, and at those times his rat behavior doesn't cross the line but just annoys opponents into taking penalties, but when he's angry he becomes an absolute and dangerous buffoon. I'm done with this guy, and his contract can't be over soon enough. Suspend him as long as you need.

It never made sense but yeah that's how things worked. The reason most of those guys think fighting still has a place in hockey is that it keeps things from escalating, and he's going to point at things like this as proof. you're essentially indulging the villain when you do it and giving him what he wants so really doesn't make any sense but the understanding is if you don't give him the fight he's going to try to hurt someone important. If he ducks fights with your heavies someone else has to do it. Idk man.

Hartman is lucky he's not thrown in jail for attempted murder. Clearly he was trying to pull off the DDT. He should try out for the WWE.

That’s bs. You want to inject energy because your team is flat?? then do something within the rules of the game. Hamonic doesn’t have to fight him. That’s not the ‘code’ or ‘old school mentality’

Premeditated, unprovoked, vulnerable position, hit to the head, drew blood, prior history... it checks every box to be 5+

It's the kind of mentality they're trying to get rid of. I'm not defending Bieksa's POV just trying to explain why he said what he did.

Have you honestly not seen things like this all the time before?
No I haven’t. At least not in the NHL and I watched for 35 years. Players turn down fights all the time. It isn’t typically followed up on by an attempt to injure penalty. Hartman has something wrong with how he is wired.

Waiting for the Michael Russo hot take/ rant on X.

Insanely stupid anbd dangerous play that may or may not be related to anything that happened in the being played. Hartman has a history of retribution for "that thing one of their guys did to one of our guys that time."

Hopefully he has a decently long suspension to further nurse his grievances in.

Not talking about the end of it, talking about the lead up.
