I think that is a bit harsh. He didn't get anymore money with the move to the NYR. I do not think it was an ego thing either. We now know that his mother was sick, and later died during the playoffs. Personally if I had been in the same situation and my GM had the power to get me closer to my mother who was ill, I would have done the same thing.

Can we please just move on from this MSL hate. He was a great player for TBL and helped us win the cup in 2004. I am sure once his contract is up with NY and he said I want to go back to TBL we would all be like, "Welcome Home!"...

NO

NOT A PRAYER in my estimation. Look I do not know Stevie personally but do know some who do. They said he was more pissed off than they had ever seen him over this.

This is uglier than we all realize with things said and done that are questionable by many parties. Marty is the trigger to the entire process that happened.

I really wonder when he does Hall of fame what type of addressing to that situation this team will do.

I do not see him ever in the rafters here. They have primarily removed him from everything already.

There are people here on this board if they wished to talk who know more than most of us. I have moved on but he is dead to me. I feel he is dead to the owner and for sure stevie and pretty much everyone but a few friends he might still have.

Somethings just are not fixable. I will never welcome him back just based on the little that I am sure of.

Its possible even with a healthy Henrik. They took a big step back on the blueline, and bottom six.

For the pieces they lost, what did they bring in? As much as the HF fans liked to poo poo on Richards, he did have 51 points on the stat sheet. Did they bring in another defenseman to replace Stralman? They replaced Boyle with Tanner Glass who apparently is a joke on skates.

They replaced Stralman with Boyle. More points, weaker defense. Replaced Boyle with Glass, Callahan with St. Louis, Pouliot with Fast. Lost Dorsett. Less depth and a weaker bottom 6. Weaker defense. All signs point to Stralman driving Staal, not the other way around. If Lundqvist or McDonagh go down for an extended period of time, bye bye season.

I think the MSL and Cally swap is neither an upgrade or downgrade for the Rangers. MSL is not good defensively, and Cally's defense made up for the point difference that MSL puts up. Then again, MSL has not exactly been on a tear since joining the Rangers.

Also, Some Ranger fans think MSL should be the next captain. :help:

I knew there was someone I forgot about (D. Boyle). Where do you guys think the Rangers stack up in the Metro after the offseason shuffle? Washington seems better (if expensive), Pittsburgh starts with healthy Letang but issues in the top 6, and Philly is probably better this year, too, right?

Who knows where the Rangers will wound up and unless we face them in the PO who really cares?

That being said the fans keep talking as if the players they lost doesn’t matter (they are such great fans) and what they gained will help them and maybe it will but “replacing” StrÃ¥lman with D. Boyle will not help the D any and while he’s a good player and might help them on the PP it wasn’t shooting the puck that was there problem, it was that they didn’t have anyone to get in front of the net to screen the goalies or take advantage of re-bounds, and they didn’t get anyone to do that after they lost Cally (who I actually think could be more costly for them during a 82 game season then what most think), Kreider is trying to do it but he’s better used elsewhere and he’s not very good at it either. D. Boyle is also a downgrade defensively. Glass is a joke and he’s a turnover machine that will in no way help Lundqvist or the D (I guess it’s a good thing that Henrik is sponsored by Advil, he’ll need it) and Lombardi could go either way since he haven’t played in NA in a while. They also have to keep their fingers crossed that Nash stays healthy and that MSL won’t be cursed by the same thing that have happened to so many other great players once they come to NY, all and all it’s everyone’s guess if the moves they have made are good or not because they do look like they have lost far more than they have gained and they will be in a similar position that we were in last year, where they need all players to be healthy and have a great year to succeed.

That is fine if they want a captain for a year or less

We have a first rounder coming our way in a big draft year. ...We care a lot and are heavily invested in their failure.

Oh yeah, my bad, I forgot about that, well then we really have to hope that we won’t have to face them in the PO… ;)

And then the last part of my post still stands.

Trade so far is:

MSL

For

Callahan (2nd Line RW)
2015 1st Round Pick (TBD)
Dominik Masin (traded pick #28 for two second rd picks - #35) (top 4 D pairing)
Johnathan McLeod (traded pick #28 for two second rd picks - #57) (bottom 4 D pairing)
Stralman (indirectly) - (#2D)
Boyle (indirectly) - (4th line C)

So far so good me thinks...

It does look good, love the depth we will have on this team for years to come. Also the rangers got a 2nd pick for next year though when Cally re-signed with us but we also got their 7th round pick next year.

I think Rags used our 2 rounder to get Kevin Hayes from Chi

Don't believe so. Pretty sure Hayes was a UFA as of August 15th and signed with the Rags.

I have no idea, all I saw was the Chicago gets a 2nd rounder back, but it’s from the Rangers or just how the rules go I’m not sure.

Might be a compensatory pick.

Absolutely correct! Looks like a good pick up by NYR especially with the few draft picks they have.

" Reports surfaced Wednesday morning that the Blackhawks' former first-round pick will sign with the New York Rangers after failing to reach a deal in Chicago.

Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said last week that he felt the team offered the 22-year-old Hayes a "fair and generous" contract. Since he decided to not sign in Chicago, the Blackhawks will receive the 54th overall pick in the 2015 draft, per the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement."

How do they already know the position of the pick?
