When you are on the top of the list in trade bait rumors, it is very hard to focus on your game. You also see his interviews, and he is the old Cally, just seems happy and relaxed now. Could also be the weather. lol.

Or just happy that he's not on a crap team anymore

LOL!

Cally is saying to himself, after making that play that led to the Stamkos goal......."So this is what it is like to play with an Elite forward" lol.

I still don't think we should have given Cally that contract, but god to I miss the guy.

Also, I just don't like MSL's demeanor thus far. At all.

A deal should of been made, the money was there, they should of both compromised on the NTC, and have one similar to Giradi. If Sather said no to any NTC then it;s really on the Rangers and not Cally.

I think 6 over 6 was just to much, but I really miss him. And with where I see this team being for the next couple years, I don't even care. It would have been great just to see a guy like that remain in blue for life.

I thought the same thing, which is why I took it so hard. It just did not go over well, and really thought he was going to re-sign.

Rangers can still get him back if they want. If he keeps playing this way in Tampa, would not put it past them.

But with the cap going up every year, and a guy still in his prime, and a guy who bled for this team and not another team it made more sense to take a risk on a 6 and 6 contract.

Richards contract still has 6 years and is almost a 7 million cap hit, and he is already regressing, but he is also 5 years older than Cally.

Richards blows. I also hate his personality.

Callahan won't be back here. That's false hope. We're way to stacked on the right side and they're not gonig to let Zucc walk to resign Cally. He's done here. It also wouldn't be the same. I would have a bad taste in my mouth if they did that.

I'm really having a tough time watching all these homegrown guys play elsewhere.

This isn't my brain talking, it's my heart...

****ing trade Rick Nash for a LWer and sign Cally. It sickens me that I'm rooting for Rick Nash to win a Cup before Cally...that sits so wrong with me. If the Rangers get knocked out this year, I hope so badly that Tampa wins it all.

Players come and go, and then we just move on, but with Cally it's different for me and a lot of people. This is on a grand scale, he was one of these homegrown players, and we saw him succeed up the system. He has a small slump, wants to get his pay day like everyone around him, and if anyone deserved a pay day it was him and Lundqvist. So it really sucks and is very bitter that we sign guys like Richards to even bigger contracts and cannot even give one of our homegrown players an even smaller contract.

So I'm on the same boat for you. His success in Tampa is really making all this go down a little smoother. You and I are far from the only people who feel this way.

Obviously Nash is more talented but....Cally, scored last night, 30 points in 53 games, Mash 34 points in 53 games

Ahem.

Your issue is with team management and, more specifically, their misguided decision to move away from the type of hockey Ryan Callahan plays.

2 goals for Callahan tonight! 1st star of the game.

Has 8 points (4 G , 4 A) in 11 games

So because we give out **** contracts to Richards and co, we should continue to make mistakes by giving guys like Cally inflated contracts?

Look, I love Cally as much as the next long-term Rangers fan, but lets be realistic here, Lundqvist is a likely hall of famer when all is said and done. There's a huge difference in rewarding a guy like him with a payday and Cally, who not only isn't an elite player, but can't seem to play a full season anymore.

He's good when he's healthy, which is rare. You can't tie up 40 million in a guy like that. Sorry.

So they give out crazy contracts to outside UFAs, when one of the Rangers homegrown players wants to get his pay day its crazy? It was not even the money, but the NTC that sent this whole deal south.

As per injuries, I guess that means guys like Nash, Kreider, Staal, and Zucc should be either traded or not given any new contracts because they tend to get injured. :shakehead

This is Hockey, not Chess. Cally with his time with the Rangers has missed an average of 7 games a season from injury, that is worth taking a risk on.

What type of hockey is that?

There isn't a team or system in hockey that doesn't employ, nor a coach that doesn't relish, players like Callahan.

Assuming they aren't looking for obscene contracts, of course.

Yup, would expect comments like this, bitter to the end.

Nope, nothing to be bitter about. Callahan was a solid ranger and a good hockey player. But he wants to be paid like a great one, which he is not. Bottom line is he isn't worth 6M this year, how on earth can you justify paying him that 6 years from now? Seriously.

Well Richards is going away, so you can't really count him. And I'd still take Nash at 7.8M for 4 more years over Cally at 6M for 6 more.

Ick no way. Nash is one of the most overrated players in the league. I know Nash was way overpaid from CBJ because he was their centerpiece for their franchise but if you're willing to only go to 5.5 for Callahan, Nash isn't worth any more either.

That makes it even worse on Cally's part. He was going to get his payday -- they were willing to give him more than he's worth -- and that STILL wasn't enough. I love the guy, but he made his bed and left the team with no other option.
