Great tribute video. He was an absolute wrecking ball his first few years. Forgot about that fight with Cooke too.

So the little boy's mom knew that he would have an emotional reaction and thought "I have to get this on video so that I can post it on youtube and exploit my child". Disgusting. :shakehead:rant:

My parents still make fun of me and my brothers for acting like little kids when we were little kids. You don't know about the kid in the video or the parent that made it.

Best of luck Cally.

You are a good guy, and you didn't deserve this.

But I guess it's like Sather said, it's all business around here.

if Cally really wanted to stay he could have took a few less on his contract.. fact is he either wants to play in Buffalo, him and his family are not city people, or he knows he is breaking down so he wants that last chance at a enticing contract....

when Cally makes his return to the garden, do the fans boo and cheer him?? does anyone think Rangers management will make a video for him since he was the captain???

for a guy that was just a 4th round pick that became captain of an NHL is a really good accomplishment... and to think some fans dont get upset when Sather throws away 4th and 5th round picks :help: ..

I think the fans cheer him. Sure, he could have taken less and stayed a Ranger, but I'm not going to hold that against him. Perhaps others might. I'm actually glad he didn't lower his demands since he's not worth today what we would have been paying him next year and the 5 years after that. That said, he was a Ranger through and through and I appreciate everything he gave us while he was here.

I made a video. My thoughts on the whole thing, because I needed for this to come straight out.

I just realized that you can hear it in my voice :(

Hey, really nice job! Cally was a great Ranger. You know sometimes these message boards can throw me off. Not that I'm that old, but I have to catch my 42 year old self and say "holy crap, there are kids that weren't born when we won the cup" Especially here online because everyone talks to each other as if there the same age (sometimes that's 12 ;)) This definitely has its pros and cons but that's for another show and I'll probably always struggle with it. Anyway, I just thought it real cool to get a view of a passionate young Ranger fan throwing his heart out there for all to see. Definitely gave me a better perspective of this joint. Good stuff. :yo:

Sad to see Cally go, but it had to be done. Best of luck in Tampa!

Contract demands, declining production and constant injuries aside, Callahan was a huge part of this team, even wearing #43 way back when, with Jagr, Straka, Nylander and Shanny running the offence. He became an even bigger part between 09-11 during the transition period when we got knocked out in the first twice and our only post lockout playoff miss sandwiched in between. He captained this team past the first round twice in a row after that.
Obviously it sucks seeing a heart and soul guy like Callahan gets traded, but thats the nature of the business. Not to mention, its not like we ended up with B level prospects, we got the reigning Art Ross winner and current team leader in goals, assists and points lol.

For some reason I have this sneaking suspicion that Callahan will be back in July.

Just to clarify was born before the Cup. I look younger than I am. It runs in the family. I was born in '91 and I very vaguely remember '94. I remember sitting my play pen and my dad screaming. I didn't quite understand it, but I knew it was good.

But yeah I mean the high school years are where you begin to form that real appreciation for the sport, so Jagr and then Callahan are definitely my generation, so I would definitely be classified I think as a younger fan and Callahan is my guy in that respect, so I felt the need to do something special for his departure.

But either way thanks alot for the kind words, makes me feel like I sent Cally off right :yo:

Unexpectedly, my sentimentality toward the player has been growing the past few days. Really wish they could have found a way to keep him, but his loss is both on him and on management. It really sucks, but neither side did enough to unsure that Cally stayed here. Both were too focused on gamesmanship, and I can understand why with so much money on the line. Just sucks.

I was, and still am, skeptical about this season being more than an anomaly for Callahan. I'd like to see him get back on his horse and play like he used to, even if it's not for the Rangers. He's a real good role model and a real exciting player when he's like that.

I'm sorry but he is not breaking down, you don't go from 3 successful seasons to a slighlty below par one while only 28 yo and still in your prime due to breaking down, so many factors happened this season why his numbers are down. I hope he proves all the nay sayers wrong, and is successful. I want people to say "Crap, we should not have let him go" I pray that will happen.

I feel most of us are thinking of this emotionally rather with our brains. We all knew he had to be traded due to his ridiculous demands, but it's still a tough pill to swallow. Would love to have him sign here this summer if he would go 5-5.5m per. Sadly, looks like the Callahan being a lifer ship has sailed....

Typical Cally game last night 1 primary assist, 4 sog, +1, 2 bs, 8 hits in 22 minutes, played PP and PK

The Callahan fanboys are having a tough time letting go. I hope Callahan plays well enough to bamboozle Vinik into paying Callahan so the Rangers get 2nd round pick in 2015. Good riddance after that. He overplayed his hand and management got tired of it. He was captain of an original 6 team. No more.

This is the Cally tribute Thread. Yeah, because he did nothing for us for 8 years, go on the I hate Cally thread and express your feelings...

There is discussion in this thread about the contract and his future. Better players have been traded. Callahan played hardball with the Rangers and they showed him the door.

Get over yourself, learned how bitter some Ranger fan can be. I hope he is successful in Tampa, and so far he has been. If you came here to bash Cally then you need to look up at the thread and see this is a tribute thread not a "Glad we got rid of him" thread.

He should of gotten another assist on that last goal, he had deflected the puck out then it led to a goal. Not sure why they did not give him an assist on that goal. But he was a huge part of that tying goal, even if he did not get his 2nd assist of the night on it.

I hope we see more games like this from him. He was hitting hard last night, got the puck loose a few times with those hits and created a turnover.

Tampa fans have been very supportive of Cally, after St Louis screwed them over.

Yeah he totally was robbed an assist on the GTG.
