Injury Report: Ryan Callahan (2/5: Wearing full contact jersey in practice)

Callahan went after Talbot because they were crashing the net. If Hank was run into and got hurt, this forum would be exploding. Callahan was doing what a captain SHOULD do and stuck up for his goalie. If that bothers you, then go watch basketball.

People are very quick to get upset if you blame Talbot for the injury, but just as quick to blame Callahan. Did I wander onto the Flyer's boards by accident?

I certainly agree and also hope he will be fine until at least the offseason with a few weeks of rest and aggressive PT.

Just would not be surprised at all to find out he has a major tear and needs surgery now.

I'm trying very hard to reason my way around that option because I really hope it's not the case. But there is certainly a likelihood of it... I cannot deny that.

I'm wondering the same thing. It seems that a widespread phobia of fighting has broken out too.

If cally is out for a long time, I want Bickel to take talbots f***ing head off next time we play them. I don't give a **** if it was intentional or not. He's the one who was banging away at Hank, and he deserved to get beaten down, then he grabs on Cally's arm like he's falling off a bridge. This is BS. I want them to absolutely destroy him.

I watched the game. For those of you who didn't see it, this is probably the most accurate description you'll get.

Talbot started jabbing at Hank's pads. Callahan grabbed Talbot and pulled him away. The MSG camera's stayed on Hank while Sam and Joe got excited about the scrum Cally and Talbot were having. The camera's then switched to Callahan and Talbot. Talbot had Callahan's arm in a firm grip, then pulled a crazy MMA leg somersault COMPLETELY ripping off Callahans arm. Lazer's were coming out of his eyes and as he was skating away flames shot out of mouth. The crowd in MSG was in pandemonium. People were ripping their hair out. Women were sobbing. Children were painting their faces in a weird tribal manner and monkey jumping on those in front of them. Some possessed demonic girl kept shrieking afterwards, completely overwhelming all the crowd noises caught by MSG microphones. She kept this up for the remainder of the game.

My personal diagnosis (i'm a registered M.D): day-to-day

I'm actually gunna have to go with post of the year on this one. I really hope someone called an exorcist for that poor girl.

Finally, someone other than me and Machinehead is blaming Talbot!

I was pissed when it happened. That's our captain. This is not MMA. As much as it looks like it sometimes. We need to take this ******* out. Seriously, Bickel is awful, just let him get a head of steam and just destroy him. I don't care if he takes a 20 game suspension.

Same here.
I hope he gets his clock cleaned.

It is absolutely Callahan's fault as well. Not for the injury, but just stupid to start scrapping when the team has momentum.

 ooook Mr. Cynical. Watch the replay. During the sequence you see Callahan mouthing something right before he goes to the ice as if to tell talbot to let up. Talbot does. When callahan goes down, Talbot looks over him almost in a confused way, mouths something to him, and callahan responds with something. I don't think there was intent at all. Talbot is not a dirty player.

Even if it is just an odd fall, what kind of ****ing idiot do you have to be grab a guy's arm and hang onto like that in a situation where you're in skates and balance is lost very easily?

Malicious or not he got hurt because the dumbass was hanging on his arm. All the hockey fights I've seen I've never seen somebody grab onto the opponents arm with both hands like that. It was a stupid move and just asking for an injury.

Callahan tries to lift his leg, which makes Talbot kind of fall backwards too.

there Talbot just kind of grabs him as the both fall.

It's clearly just an accident...... just because there is a Flyer logo on his jersey doesn't always mean he did something wrong. Sometimes an accident is just that...... an accident.

As for the abrupt ending? It's clear Callahan is saying something. Talbot seems a little confused by it but he clearly understand Callahan is in no shape to continue.

CT is absolutely barren. If Callahan goes down long-term Sather is going to have to make a move, or time to make Gilroy a full-time winger.

I have nothing against what Callahan did, and I don't really blame Talbot for it either, but I really hate that **** when players are fighting and it turns into a who can slam who to the ice first-fest. To be fair, they were trying to slam each other and Callahan got the worst of it.

I also hate when players initiate fights with a visor on, but that's besides the point.

Gotta be Mashinter or Haley, throw them on the fourth line, and move everyone else up. But of course, we hope for a not-so-long-term injury, and for Kreider to hurry back.

3 outta 100...congrats.

if you're going to go grabbing guys off of the pile be ready to pay the price. it was nothing more than an unfortunate chain of events, i cant imagine how anyone would see this as being intentional...:shakehead

Talbot didn't grab him on the way down, he had him by the arm almost as soon as the fight began. He's an idiot.

I could cross 6 lanes of traffic against the light and get nailed by a truck. That's an accident. Would it make me any less of an idiot?
