Injury Report: Ryan Callahan (2/5: Wearing full contact jersey in practice)

Depending how bad it is, Shoulder injuries are classic injuries players can play through. Don't ask me why, but, added where and tear wont[' make the injury worse. Taylor Hall played 2 years with a torn labrum muscle in his shoulder. He finally had surgery last year.

Same with Kesler. ANy way, even if the injury is semi serious, it is very possible he will be back right away, then have surgery in the offseason.

Depends on the severity.

One thing that concerns me is true fact that Ryan Kesler who plays a similar style to Callahan has had a shoulder problem for a few seasons now I believe 2 in a row...

Although he was sugglish when he returned he returned to his normal game and didn't really change

This is an understatement. Kesler was a shell of himself last year.

My God, sometimes I really hate our beat writers. Specifically Zipay and Cerny. They can both be such ***holes sometimes..

Relax dude. Not everyone is as plugged in as you are, Jim. You opened yourself up to the questions when you made your Twitter account. You know you don't have to answer everything, right? Grow the **** up.

This isn't even my question, it's just something that really ****es me off and I've been seeing it more and more lately.

(I posted this here because what really sent Cerny up in arms today was people asking about Callahan)

Yeah, Cerny pisses me off. A punchable face for sure. I cringe whenever he interviews Ranger players.

This is exactly what I fear. Remember when people were speculating that Callahan was playing injured during the playoffs and nothing came out of it? Maybe he was playing with a torn labrum like Hall was the past two years and didn't bother to report it because of his pride for playing the game.

Well, it wouldn't be a matter of him reporting it. The medical staff will know. When the Oilers drafted Hall they knew he had the torn labrum. They also knew that playing through it won't cause and further damage. Which is my point. Callahan could have a injured shoulder, which could require surgery (if it was hurt before then I have no idea why he didn't do it after the playoffs last year) but he could come back and play. The injury to Hall never seemed to slow him down, however, for example Kesler it seemed to. Again all depends on the severity.

ps. hope he is alright, he is one of my fav players.

at least it wasn't his throwing shoulder

Thanks to all who posted. Nothing dirty or intentional there.
Talbot even signaled for help.

Case dismissed

Don't like the arm lock, like its MMA.

But its more of a case of Talbot not knowing how to fight, rather then him doing it with intent to injure.

The whole situation sucks. Really anxious to hear the results of the MRI.

Past history has no bearing on what happened last night. What difference does it make if the player had a past history of being dirty or not? Talbot is more guilty of being reckless and idiotic imo, due to the fact that he's a Pejorative Slur when it comes to hand to hand combat.

and yes i will blame Talbot....

I guess Orr was being reckless when he knocked out Fedoruk? :shakehead Sometimes people get hurt in a fight and that's all it was.

I will agree to disagree here.

There was no armlock.

Talbot has his right hand on Callahan's arm, and his left hand is holding Callahan's jersey around the collar. You see it clearly when Talbot falls and pulls Callahan down with him. Everything that happened in this 'scrum' happens in every other fight as the combatants scramble to keep their balance and to best get a grip on their opponent to prevent him from getting easy shots in.

Probably best news possible for #NYR on Ryan Callahan: Shoulder subluxation, out 10 days to 2 weeks.
