Proposal: Boston trade chips

The bruins are dead in the water, they just don’t know it yet. The past couple seasons were their last chance. They need to sell whatever they can and get ahead of the rebuild before a couple years of mediocrity force their hand. They have no prospects, all of their new contracts are underperforming and their good home grown players are aging. It’s going to be steady decline from here on out. I think everyone should be available from their POV, for the right price.
We, the humbled fan base know it. It's the management team that won't admit it.

Calm down its not that bad

Marchy 1st round pick and 2nd round pick
Frederic 1st round pick.

Take it or leave it.

Are we going for a retool or rebuild? A late/mid pick are unlikely to help this team until Pasta, Swayman, McAvoy are all in their 30s.

I feel like if it's a retool then targeting prospects that are approaching NHL ready is probably a better option.

Frederic for a 3rd

Pass. They'd likely get a better offer.

If you wanted to "re-tool" you could take those picks and flip them before or at the draft for NHL players

Trent Frederic isn't getting a first, especially after that Jeannot fiasco. Teams will be super hesitant in that.

Mid/late 2nd? Sure, that's a possibility.
What I've learned is never underestimate how stupid GMs can be if they strongly desire more toughness on their team, but generally speaking I think most GMs have wised up and it's unlikely that anyone would pay an excessive price like a 1st for Frederic.

If the Canucks can't find a younger, better option to plug that 2C hole...i'd be kind of curious about Coyle. Depending on the acquisition cost. The extra year on that contract at not insignificant money makes it a bit risky, but i think he'd be a solid fit with a Tocchet team as a good 2-way player and would add that RH Center i'm sure they would really like to have. Would end up being a sort of "2C by committee" thing with Chytil as a pair of sort of 3C options, and hope the Wingers can carry it. Far from ideal, but it'd be an upgrade...and might be more feasible with the assets Vancouver has to realistically deal.

Until all their competition has added and the clock is ticking fastly approaching 3pm and the panic button is in reach

In terms of draft pick value, I would think...

Marchand: 1st and a B prospect or hang onto him.
Carlo: 1st or two 2nd's
Coyle: 2nd and 4th
Frederic: 2nd

But honestly, I hope the Bruins are able to get young NHL'ers or NHL ready prospect of roughly equal value.
This is what I hope happens as well. I’d be okay with them shopping Korpisalo as well, not expecting much back, but maybe a playoff team with a hurt goalie

The Bruins have a better core than many teams. The question is if the Bruins can improve on Sweeney and find the true number 1 center.

It’s going to be bad man sorry to tell you but the next few years for you guys aren’t going to be pretty.
You dont have to be sorry because with the right approach to retool they will be fine. They have Pastrnak, McAvoy and Swayman. They are elite on their position and they will be in their prime at least for the next three years. Bruins missed the playoffs in 2015 and 2016 and were right back in the mix right again (Cup Final 2019). They need to take a little step back for sure but they won't be miserable for the next decade.

1 good player at every position doesn’t mean you can compete. You have no assets to trade for better players and have boat anchor contracts stuck on your team.

No, no. They can still make the playoffs. Not only should the Bruins not sell anybody, they should also be buying.
We have a Matt Grzelcyk who would (unironically) be perfect for them.

*giggle*

Wrong, they have more good players but these are core players on the most important positions exept center. They have Zacha, H. Lindholm and Geekie too. Poitras and Lohrei are also youngsters who are developing great and have potential.

They have trade pieces with value in Carlo, Coyle, Frederic

They only have one anchor contract in E. Lindholm right now but that will be alright with the Cap skyrocketing in the next three years. Beside that they have 25 million in cap space with Marchand, Frederic and Geekie the only important pieces to sign in the next season.

If they target young players or surefire prospects in trades they will be fine very soon. Drafting in the top 10 in the next draft would also help. Then its very possible that Jack Eichel wants to come home in the next years free agency which would give them a franchise center. Looks like Toronto and Vancouver fans should hold their hankys ready because if everything falls into there way its very possible that the Bruins will be much better in two years from now.

I think Boston should listen on Morgan Geekie as well. I think he's great and would love to extend him but he's definitely worth throwing out there. 18 goals this year and a great swiss army knife that can play all 3 positions. Pending RFA so whoever trades for him would have team control.

Calling Coyle a 2C is generous. He's a 3C on a contending team and Boston would likely have to retain to make a deal work.
What’s the ask on Geekie?

I've kinda wondered about the price for Carlo, and if Detroit would go for it.

He'd nicely bridge the gap as we start to work ASP into the lineup. Would be a massive upgrade over Petry and Holl. AlJo plays the 2RD role well, but it's not his natural side.
