Russia NT right wing Yegor Korshkov is having an amazing WJC tournament so far, so I thought he deserves a thread here.

Korshkov got a 6'3" frame, is strong at the board battles while being just 179 lbs (certainly some room to add a little bit of strength there), is agile and accelerates well. Also, what seems even more important to me, he plays a very smart game and is not afraid of being creative and pulling some unexpected moves.

Are his measurements outdated? He surely looks strong on the puck. He should be drafted for sure.
 
He is not a fully developed player though so he should stay in Russia at least for one more season.

I was also surprised about the measurements as he didn't look too much weaker than Dergachyov, who is 225 lbs. Although measurements were updated at the start of the season, so it shouldn't differ that much.

He is contracted until 2018.
 
NHL Scouts missed on this guy. Really amazing. I currently consider him at least a top 60 talent from the 2014 draft class, maybe higher.
 
But still he has some flaws. Has no one-timer and his wrister is pretty questionable too. He creates chances only when going with the puck straight to the net or because his nice playmaking skills.

I think there are similarities, but again, it depends what to call 'poor man's' - I mean, obviously Korshkov is not as physically gifted as Nuke is, but he has showed signs of a better hockey IQ so far.

Scouts mostly ignore MHL somehow, I don't think that's a clever thing, but that's how it is.

In the end of the day, Korshkov is the only undrafted overager that got over ppg in WJC - 2+6 in 7 games.

Let the scouts keep ignoring the MHL. The more they ignore the better.

Disagree. The better scouting in the MHL, the less reason to leave it for Russian players. Korshkov is understandable, he didn't have great stats in the MHL and didn't play for a KHL team in his draft year.

I guess so, unless their only interest of scouting the MHL is to poach players to the Canadian junior leagues from there.
 
I think his productivity would struggle against man because he wouldn't have the big size advantage, he must improve his shooting and overall skills to really succeed even in KHL

I actually don't worry about that too much as he is not Kitsyn-like type of player. Korshkov is a decent skater, sees the ice very well, plays a smart game - of course, improvements are neccessary for every player his age, but the size advantage factor doesn't worry me so far.
 
Korshkov has finished his KHL season with 1+2 in the game Vs. Slovan for the total of 6g+6a in 41 games this season.

He was super impressive at the WJC this year. Does anyone know what his KHL contract situation is like? Does he have interest in playing in North America?

Korshkov got 2 years left on his KHL contract, pretty sure he is gonna honour it. About the interest, if by 'North America' you mean NHL, I assume he does have it (at least he never stated orherwise), don't think KHL-ers are too interested in AHL nowadays though.
