Don't think that really matters when you are talking about a 12 year age gap between the two.some compare him to a young Patches...ironic if they move Max only to draft something considered "similar"
Considering how varied the USNTDP schedule is, you would really have to break it into 3 or so categories of IIHF events (4 nations and 5 nations), NCAA exhibition and USHL to get an accurate reflection, but it would also lead to making judgments of a fairly small sample size.Nope

Plus while Hughes is elite, the guys they had centering him before that were pretty hit and miss. Wise went down, and their really isn't a good center past him at the program for the 2000's.
uh, Pac is a tremendous 2 way player, Wahlstrom hopes he ever gets to Pacioretty's level...
And habs fans hate Pacioretty because he's been a poor captain and blame him for the Subban trade when neither of things actually mean anything regarding his play on the ice over the last half dozen years...Uh.. I'm a habs fan. If you think Pacioretty is a tremendous 2 way player, I have a bridge to sell you.

You couldn't be more wrong about why I don't like Pacioretty and want him traded. To start, he floats and doesn't work hard, unlike Wahlstrom. He barely wins any battle and is lacking Hockey IQ. I've been watching him since day 1 by the way.
Reason why I want him out is because he doesn't have a contract in 2 years. I don't want him to get a 7M contract which he will probably ask, he is not worth that.
I think people forget just how good a player Patches was and still is...not many players have scored more goal than him the past 6-7 years. he is having a bad year and has looked like shit but he was a solid 2-way force for a long time and will bounce back. If Wahlstrom has the career that Patches has, that is a good thing..And habs fans hate Pacioretty because he's been a poor captain and blame him for the Subban trade when neither of things actually mean anything regarding his play on the ice over the last half dozen years...
Wahlstrom work hard ?
You do realize Pacioretty is one of the top 2-way wingers in the NHL right? Not a grinder, but he works harder than Pacioretty, which isn't hard to do. You can Watch his U18 highlights to confirm.

Michigan already "encouraged" a player to decommit and recommit to another school to free up dollars to attempt to get Jack Hughes (Mattias Samuelsson). No chance they can fit Wahlstrom in on a free ride at this point.A Boston school makes sense, but the possibility of Michigan with Quinn Hughes, Jack Hughes, and Bode Wilde, is so exciting to think about. Europe seems like a real wild card, Matthews is the only precedent.

My guess is he ends up in the AHL, and if he doesn't look ready for that he'll be in the QMJHL. Maybe his agent will put in a Europe exit clause, but I'd be surprised.
I'm waiting to hear what happens. I heard way back in January that he's still in grade 11 and seriously considering the QMJHL. Keep in mind he entered the program as a 10th grader and in 2015/16 was a Freshman on Shattuck. Now, he may be able to accelerate his schooling by working like crazy this summer.
Yes, if he signs with an NHL team which completely removes his NCAA eligibility. See Zegmus Girgensons who went straight from the USHL to the AHL. Sonny Milano did a CHL year and then went to the AHL as a 19 year old (one year ahead of kids drafted out of the CHL). The only players who can't enter the AHL before 20 are CHL players due to the NHL-CHL transfer agreement.he can play in the AHL ??
I see him as a top 5 pick battling it out with Zadina, Tkachuk, Boqvist and Dobson for one of the 3 spots behind Dahlin and Sergachev
