Yeah, I’ve seen his compete questioned. I remember his coach was on the Pipeline Show earlier this year talking about how hard of a worker he is. Almost wonder if he’s just not being challeneged enough this season.
It's more noticeable because he plays next to Farabee, who is like a dog chasing a bone for the puck. I understand he's a smart cerebral player most of the time with a deadly shot. But, you also look at his size and ability next to Farabee and wonder how good he'd be if he was like that.

Also, guys can be insanely hard workers off the ice and in practice but play a slower more methodical game and not really grind it out along the boards as much as a coach or scout would want.

This kid is a stud. Should go top 5 imo and any team that takes him around 8 where he is predicted is gonna get a beast of a prospect

Yeah, we’re very familiar with Mantha over on the Wings board...

Hopefully he irons that out as he jumps up a level in play. I feel like this is something stressed in college hockey, if he does indeed go that route then it might help.

Not a chance.

He'll do one year so that he'll be able to come back and finish his studies at any time he wants.

Anyways, in what way is it embarassing ?

Hes not a powerforward, at all.

But yes, his dedication to improving really shows as he's had a steep development curve this year.

That, and his shot is deadly. Its already NHL ready.
He's a power forward/sniper. He can do both and is a big kid. He uses his body well to win puck battles when necessary.

could he goes played in the Q if he is traded to a contender team ? the Memorial Cup would be in the Q so they are more chance for to play in the Memorial Cup. Teams like Moncton and Halifax that will have great team and they have alote of $$ and Halifax are the team that will host the Memorial Cup

It will be a great day when Boston/Sweeney signs him as a free agent after his four years in Harvard are done. :naughty:

Don't think you guys would have the chance... I don't think there's a chance he plays 4 years of NCAA

first question the hockey teams are going to ask at the nhl combine
do you want to play 4 yrs in college

as a top 10 nhl teams rarely have that patience

Wahlstrom is not going to Harvard.
If he plays NCAA it will be with BU/BC or another team he will get for free, and will aim to leave after 1-2 years.

I got him at 3 after Dahlin and Svech. Would be thrilled if Benning took him at 6

I would see him going to Halifax for memorial cup run and with the schedule and intensity gets closer to an NHL schedule Halifax can be crazy stacked for next year

I just think he's one of the few player that can make the jump right in.

Dahlin, Svechnikov, Zadina, Tkachuk, Wahlstrom, Kaut, Kotkaniemi and Dobson.

There's other players, but these one I feel are going in the top 20.

You think Kaut can make the jump? Interesting, why so if you don't mind me asking?

I like him as a prospect, but him making the jump immediately I'm not so sure about

Yes sure!

I don't want to talk to much about it since it's the Wahlstrom page, but Kaut's playing in his second year as a pro. This year was an excellent year for him (really good season 9+7 in 38, excellent u20 and really good playoffs 3+2 in 7)

Also he's going to play at the World Championship.

On top of that he's a RW, so no stress playing the center position in the NHL. Less responsabilities on the wing, so easier to take a spot.

And from what I saw from him, he has good wheels, nice hands and a good shot!
