One of the forgotten Flyers' prospect. He may very well end up being a top 6 player in the future.

With him, Lindblom, Leier, Laughton, Cousins, Fazleev plus this past years draft, we are building the depth nicely. Plus we still have Martell and Bardeau who are longshots but have shown they can be very good.

I still hope we get a 2nd 1st rounder this coming year and then take 2 forwards with those picks. Adding 2 potential top 6 guys would really be nice to offset the young D coming.

Can he or Konecny play LW? Seems like the Flyers system biggest weakness.

So far in the 1st 2 games he played this year, he has played at LW. It looks like the plan is to play him at LW all season.

But yeah, with Voracek, Simminds and Konecny all RWers, we need some LW.

Most Flyers fans are hoping we add 1-2 top 6 LW at the next draft.

Yep, I think LW is the biggest obvious need in the system. (and ofc on the team itself) Aube-Kubel and Lindblom are the only players we have who can seamlessly play LW (though both play RW as well) and have legitimate top 6 potential.

Cool, good to know. I always trade you guys Bickell (better in game than IRL) in Be a GM since the Philly AI always refuses to draft any LW's. ;)

Now has 5g+5a=10 pts in 6 games this year and is +12.

He needs to keep it up to make a Team Canada. Perfect start to the season.

Who would have thought that our prospect in the CHL out to the slowest start would be Konecny.

Had a goal and an assist today.

Now has:

6g, 6a, 12p in 7gp.

His 1.71 PPG is 9th in league and his +11 leads all Q players.

He is also tied for 1st in EV goals in the Q with 6.
(Thanks Appleyard for the numbers)

Having a good season.

He has points in 22 of his last 23 games.....39 points during that span.

By his stats his play looks good, does anyone who has seen him play thinks he has a shot one day to play in the NHL?

Oh yes, pretty good shot I reckon. He has the tools to for sure as a middle sixer.

Great shot, his release is fantastic, very good skater, pretty decent hands, has played all forward positions, strong for his height, very good defensively, gritty player, can PK as well.

It would not surprise me if he became a ~40 point NHL forward really.

Should be interesting to see him in the AHL next year.

Just 21 points in 77 career AHL games. I wasn't expecting him to light it up or anything but he could be doing better.
Doesn't seem to be as promising as a prospect anymore. Anybody have any feedback?

It's really tough evaluating NAK's season. The Phantoms went all-in trying to be a contender, signing a bunch of veterans to block out some of the young guys, and their coach, Scott Gordon, is veteran mad, besides being an overall garbage coach.

He had his spurts playing with a guy like Jordan Weal, where he looked good, but he was essentially buried on the 4th line almost all season, with no PP time. It was simply a case of being buried, with little heed paid to his development. He was instructed to play the role of dump and chase grinder plug. It was painful to watch. Yet, he still looks the part of a future NHL player if you watch him. Everything else seems to be there. From Flyers fans who watched plenty of him in the AHL, the opinion is: if given an actual scoring role next year, he could have a big year.

Good, informative post; thanks

I think the plan is to give some of the younger guys more responsibility this year so I do think we will see a better season from NAK. He looks good when given the opportunity.

And to add to what Magua said, another AHL rookie, Fazleev, had this to say about their role:

We had three good centers so, frankly speaking, I could only expect to play on the fourth line. I don’t have anything against it, but the game is a bit different there. It has been excellently explained by my coach: I needed to play hard, trying to get under the opposition’s skin with my energy. The most important thing was not to allow any goal, and scoring myself would have been a bonus, it wasn’t required.

I certainly understand that every team needs such players, but those aren’t my strong points. Let’s start with one consideration: I’m not that fast, therefore I have to try and do something unusual. But this isn’t welcome on the fourth line. I tried to play the way the coach wanted, but it didn’t work. I tried playing as I wanted, and I showed some flashes, but then if there was a mistake, then I would be benched.

I was simply punished for not playing the way the coach wanted. If that’s not enough, I constantly played until the New Year, but then the coaches decided to give more trust to the most experienced players.

Gordon is a joke of a coach. He apparently thinks that developing players is secondary to his personal goal of trying to get his way back to the NHL by riding AHL vets. Which is particularly funny because some of the vets he played were inferior to the prospects.

Vets were favored to a fault and it didn't even pay off.

First NHL goal last night.
