I'll predict this is the defense against the Avs

Vlasic Crevier
Edmonton Murphy
Martinez Levshunov

Martinez just makes too much sense being paired with Lev. He's a 3 time cup champ and NHL veteran who has played with a former 2nd overall RHD before. Plus, that pair can get some pretty easy minutes behind the others.

I don't know how you got that from what I said.

"Their delivery service is a joke."
  4. Something not to be taken seriously; a triviality.
    "The accident was no joke."
  5. An object of amusement or laughter; a laughingstock.
"His loud tie was the joke of the office."

Interesting tidbit..I have a buddy that played/coached/scouted at a high level and is a season ticket holder in Rockford. I asked him about Levshunov and he said "he is a goalies nightmare"...I replied that I didn't know he was that impressive offensively and he says "No, he is your own teams goalie nightmare...turns pucks over...not physical...out of position...no clue what he is doing out there...massive defensive liability....not close to being ready for NHL."

Take that for what its worth.

I’m sure he will have a lot of detractors. His bad plays will be egregious, and whoever doesn’t evaluate him as a total package but focuses on single mistakes instead will have a lot to chew on. I can already picture a few of the negative nellies from here doing that.

I really hope he’s going to turn much better than Seth Jones, but I can see him becoming some kind of scapegoat too because the nature of his mistakes will make him an easy target.

I hope he becomes a stud. However, right now it in his development path I don't see it. I don't see elite level skating, shot, decision making, etc. I wish I did. It's really early his development and things can obviously improve but I just don't see a superstar in the making. I see a bottom at best Dman.

I feel like everything I read about him compliments his skating and ability to get shots through. I haven’t watched him really at all myself, though.

Thought he would have to wait until end of year for a game or two

Hopefully he thrives with chance and never goes back to Rockford

But my realistic expectation is a few games as a reward for his recent play in Rockford giving him NHL taste
I don't think they'll exceed the 9 games so that his ELC can slide

I have only seen highlights, so I can’t make my own judgement. But I hope he becomes a stud too, and most reports seem to indicate that he is on his way to becoming one, so I remain optimistic.

For rebuilding teams I think it's better to burn a year. You take care of your player by getting them more money earlier and you likely get them at a lower cap hit going forward if they sign a long term deal. Especially for players you drafted 2nd overall. We could get him signed long term as early as next summer.

He certainly suffers from occasional gaffes and inconsistent effort (though has improved greatly at both throughout the year), but if you are truly watching and don't see the elite tools it's pretty tough to trust your evaluation

Don’t worry he is basing a lot of his thoughts off of his scout friend’s opinion who’s credibility or expertise could not be verified in any meaningful way he could be good be a good scout or he could be Musto

I guess we have different levels of expectactions for a #2 overall pick. I saw Cale Makar play and he jumped off the page with his skillset. Makar went #4 overall. Makar stood out and looked dominant. I dont see any of those flashes from Lev at this point.
