Yeah I know, and Michkov scored a goal ina loss in a practice tournament

Yeah, and Michkov is 16 months younger, than Kakko was. This Team Sweden is as good or better as teams Kakko played against, and Swedes didn't wanna lose to Russian kids, so you can be pretty sure they did their best to beat them.

Two statements by Michkov after the Swedish game

"I should score in the first period. When scoring, the puck fell on my stick, so I just decided to give it a try."

"My dream is to play for Team Russia at Olympics."

At 16 years old playing in a senior men’s level international game.

It’s very impressive what he did despite your suggestions to the contrary.

I’m well aware? How is that relevant to my question?
Well, youre implying that I think that nothing should be taken into account before they’re in the NHL based on my comment on not taking national play into consideration that much anymore, which is fairly odd

Imagine him being lined up against McDavid and MacKinnon at the same time.

Welcome to the big leagues kid right away, not sure he has the skating or physical maturity (being only 16, I guess 17 by the time the Olympics start — not a knock but senior men’s best-on-best is a whole other beast).

Hard to see him being on a best-on-best Olympic roster at this age as talented as he is.

Should be a force at the WJC this year though.

I guess he means Olympics at some point?
No way he cracks this year's roster

Of course. He talks about the Olympics generally as ultimate dream, he is not talking about the Beijing Games specifically.

That would make a lot more sense, he’s an incredible player and the fact he’s even playing with the national team right now is a huge statement for just how good he is.

It will happen, just not in Beijing.

Except that’s not what i’m implying, not even close.

You think scouts are gonna care less about international games now that Kakko is struggling in the NHL after being good in the WHC? Keep in mind that he would’ve been the concensus second pick even if he didn’t play there.

There are plenty of players who dominate their respective leagues but never make it in the NHL, maybe those leagues shouldn’t be taken into consideration that much either then?

Why does he even have haters ? Because he moved to SKA and signed that contract ?
Because haters are an attribute of being good, famous and so on. They don't realise thay just prove his status with their haterism. I he was like they say "a nothing guy who we will forget about in 3 years"(yes, I literally read something like that just today) why would they bother?

…..ah men…you actually asked “if anything” should be taking into consideration, so..

and I’m not saying that scouts will listen to a f****r like me, I just gave my two cents in a hf-thread, explaining my thoughts, not what they will be thinking.

You’re taking this way too far

Do players/prospects for SKA get the same level of hate as CSKA?
And this is also a generalization. Of course some fans of the teams those players played before SKA dislike their decision.

What is real is the disliking for SKA in general, not for particular players. Even the haters' narrative would be "SKA ruins those talented young players", which is of course not true too, but who cares among haters?

The hate for SKA is just potentiated by the persona of Rotenberg Jr. . Every rich team is hated for being rich and able to lure away players. So SKA and CSKA alike, but then SKA has Rotenberg who also happens to be the real no.1 of the FHR while Tretiak is just acting gramps. So far Rotenberg's strategies are a lot of talk and a lot less results.

I’m well aware of what i said, and i asked ”why” not ”if”...

There just is absolutely no logic behind those thoughts, ”i’m not gonna care about these games, even tho they’re playing against better competition than they have ever before, these games tell me nothing about the player because he is wearing a national team jersey”

How does that make ANY sense to you?

Some more angles of his Michigan:

Sick one, love how in the flow of the play it was. Not overly setup where he had tonnes of time back there, and it was really the best move for that situation.

I am still processing that this 16 year old has the balls of steel and the cool mind to just straight go for it in his second senior NT game. That speaks volumes about his talent level. Most guys in his situation are all immersed in trying to not eff things up on the big stage. He just nonchalantly goes for the most tricky move.

He has one big problem, his slapper sucks. His wristler and snapper are fabulous, but without good slapper and one-timer it's hard to score a lot in the NHL. I'm pretty sure with his other shots and IQ he still will score tonn of goals, but he can score even more with a good slapper.

He can practice that. Get an experienced defenceman and biomechanic coach. He will be unstoppable then. He processes the game at light speed so it seems intuitive. He'll also grow some more and be even harder to separate from the puck. I hope Matvei is the first of a production line of extraordinary talents as the Russian hockey school recovers.

Better quality here (1080p, 60fps) and also the full sequence with some more angles of the goal.

Congratulations to all Russian users and to Russian hockey in general from Slovakia. You have a gem here in Michkov. He is really fun to watch and it´s impossible not to be a Michkovs fan.
