And it's when Michkov is just a PPG rookie. Imagine what it looks like when he wins his first Art Ross and Hart...

I don't see any Habs fans saying that anymore tbh, and the more knowledgable ones are kinda done talking shit about him. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Demidov play in the NHL next year, should be exciting. I absolutely love that they're going to make these GM's look like fools, the Russian stigma is out of control.

I understand that Philadelphia fans are happy, but I'm still disappointed that Michkov and Demidov won't play for the same team, and I blame Habs...

Oh that woulda been absurd, not fair. Damn shame, they seemed to play well off each other too when they did get a chance to share the ice together. Really, REALLY hope Russia gets back into international play, what a creative set of forwards they'd have to play together.

Yeah, I hope for the next World Cup. But only if Rotenberg is gone...

I think it's glaringly obvious he's clearing 60 at this point, the game is slowing down to a point Matvei is making it look easy. He didn't play in juniors vs kids, he's been playing against men since he was a teenager, I think he'll hold up just fine. Everyone that hasn't watched him since he was a teenager is starting to see exactly why he's one of the most talked about prospects in a long time. I'd never start the thread to compare him to Bedard (who should have went 1st overall between them) but I'm of the minority with a few other posters that thought Michkov projected better, due to his unreal IQ, even at the draft. I think both are future HOF players irregardless, Michkov is an absolute savage though, he's always been different. Bedard was just the easy, 1C "generational" tag from Canada, and rightfully so he was putting up generational stats in juniors. I love the respect they both have for each other though, it's pretty dope imo.

I'm a Flyers fan, i love the kid. Increased expectations can be harmful though. Staying at PPG will be very difficult for him this season and it's OK if he slows down due to workload. He's never played the game at this pace for an entire season and he'll likely set a record for games played in a season. Fatigue does play a part and i'd expect him to end with 60-ish when all's said and done.

Never say never. Maybe we trade for Demidov.

I never thought he'd hit PPG, I know he'll clear 60 though at this point unless he gets hurt but it wouldn't shock me if he did. Montreal would be fools to deal Demidov will never happen until they're old and or play for team Russia.

I expect he'll slow down too, but on the other hand this season is a little bit different due to 4 Nations so Michkov will have a few days to rest and recover his stamina.

I know you've watched ton's of Michkov so I don't question that at all. He just turned 20, Torts is giving him 14 TOI a game because "things". What makes you think he'll slow down? His game has grown astronomically already at the NHL level, I've seen every shift Matvei has taken since the first game of his career. I see absolutely nothing that suggests this pace he's on right now won't be something he replicates until seasons end. There's also an all-star break / 4 Nations etc. I just don't see it, dude isn't a burner out there blowing all his energy he is extremely calculated.

Are you serious lol, they have the best offensive prospect from last year in Demidov, that should be enough to at least not lose your mind. You can argue Celebrini but I think Demidov has a higher offensively ceiling.
Michkov had better stats than Demidov in every age.

That's the problem that anything I watched before doesn't help because the situation is absolutely different for Michkov than anything he had before. So I expect him slow down but won't get upset if he doesn't.

Agree to disagree, I think he's on the upswing hitting another level, he'll continue to unlock new levels as he progresses to his prime.

I think you misread what I typed. I was comparing him to Celebrini... lol, offensively. I'm saying Habs fans have something to look forward to, I don't think Michkov and Demidov are comparable they never were imo, not as prospects.
Imo Michkov uses his super high hockey smarts to make him so great. He sees the game faster than others so makes amazing passes to make plays or gets to spots ahead of the opponents. Demidov is a transporter of the puck. He Carrie’s it to make plays. Very different players.

Exactly. Extremely different, Michkov's IQ is once in every 10 years type though, that's the separation for me, guy's literally a hockey savant. If his skating improves, which it will because the guy breathes hockey, he'll be a perennial art / hart guy.

I get it, the guys on the Habs board are hockey fanatics and anyone who knows the game knows what he was going to be, I do feel bad for Habs fans, there's some real good ones that add a lot to the board and the hockey community in general. Flyers would be doomed if we didn't get him, they were due for a break though after losing Kane to the Hawks and getting JVR, then Kane potting the cup winning goal. We're all tortured one way or another as fans.
Don't forget winning the lottery only to move up and get f***ed by nolan patrick

Heck, we passed over makar, heiskanen, and petterson. Plus Necas. How badly can one screw up a pick like that

Yeah the Flyers management team and scouts are something else, but we also got Giroux with a late 1st, things seemingly work themselves out. Unless Michkov gets hurt we're looking at the best Flyer of all time imo, I truly believe he's that great. I absolutely love Giroux how he connected with the city and I loved him as a prospect at Gatineau, never thought he'd drop but he did thankfully, but he's not Michkov.

I blame Briere for not pulling the trigger last year to get the 4th pick from CBJ. They almost had a deal done, but Briere thought it was too much to give up. Briere wanted Demidov badly, but I guess not badly enough.

Some players are worth overpaying in a trade, and imo, Demidov is one of those players. I would have given the 12th pick, last years 31st pick ( EDM) and this year's colorado pick (20ish) which was the package CBJ wanted. Not one of those picks have a guarantee of a hit, and if they do hit ( middle 6 players), they are easily replaceable. Demidov is special with top 10 player potential.

He also has a good chance to convert to center position in the NHL. Michkov and Demidov together in Philly would have been dynamite.

60 has always seemed like a successful season imo . Ppg would be nutty given toi / linemates . Might be possible if he’s stapled to Konecny . Hes the only true finisher on the squad ( other than Michkov of course ) .

Nah, too much IMO considering the poor state of Philly prospect pool (and extreme dearth of C prospects).
