Russian prospects tend to be over hyped, so some counter balance is needed.

But as far as Kaprizov, what did I say about him? He played for my favourite team in Russia, dont remember bashing him at all.

I bashed Grigorenko, Kabanov, Kitsyn, Kravtsov, Petrov, Filatov, Shipachyov, Bereglazov, Ozhiganov, Plotnikov, Guryanov etc.

The only good guy I thought would be bad was Semin and to some degree Malkin. But that was long time ago.
You predict every Russian kid to bust. You're a one trick pony, not some objective 'counter balancer'. You literally threw temper tantrums about people being like "don't stop the party" with your uhhh... Kunlun concerns.

We know you have the list of Russian "busts" memorized and stapled to your wall. Probably reading it off every night before bed and when you wake up. Some of whom weren't even ever really hyped but I digress.

Russian prospects "tend to be over hyped", yeah like "over hyped" players such as Panarin (Undrafted) and Kaprizov (5th round), both top 10 in NHL scoring. Of the top 15 players in NHL scoring right now, 11 of them were 1st round picks. Mark Stone is also there. The other 3, Russians (Kaprizov, Kucherov, Panarin). Clearly Russians are just so "over hyped".

No, he absolutely is.

He scratched his best player for two games.

One game, okay whatever he's a rookie. Try to teach him a defensive lesson or something. Hope he gets it.

A second game is too far, and something that I can't respect.

The fact that he put him with shitty linemates this game shows he didn't realize his mistake either.
Well I wasn't really being serious there.

Is Gar still in here? I blocked him so long ago.

Drysdale isn't really a scratch victim, he's legit injured and out for a week. Frost, however, that's still malpractice on Torts' part. At least he sat Dlo.
Neither of those guys has done anything to deserve staying in the lineup.

Gosh I hope Celebrini was ok from that Mike Tyson right hook lol

They only called Michkov which gave the Sharks a full 2 minute PP to start OT. Thankfully the Flyers killed it for Matvei and then went on to win in a Shootout. That should have been either a no-call or take both situation in a tied game at the buzzer.

Celebrini sold it to make it look like a legit punch, but it’s still a rough. I thought Michkov should have kept his cool, all things considered. But yeah, it worked out. He got the best of one of his top Calder competitors.

Funny thing is Michkov should have won it for Flyers a few seconds prior to that with an easy tap in, but Farabee (if I’m not mistaken) messed an easy 2 v 0 pass to him

Dumb penalty for Michkov, but also not a good look for Ceiebrini. Embarrassingly soft.

Russian prospects aren't over hyped more than anybody else. Individuals are overhyped, not nationalities.

That you specifically target and single out players based on their nationality to “provide a counter balance” is ****-ed up.
Every player should be judged on his own individual merit.

They won without him. Why would he change his lineup after a win? Even the Florida game was actually decent but Torts probably wanted to have Poehling back in so he had to change his lineup anyway.

Also, Poehling is a former 1st round pick and Richard has been scoring ppg for quite a while in the AHL while being productive in the NHL as well, including recent games for the Flyers.

These aren't plugs and actually decent linemates.
The Flyers are a bad team and their wins and losses don’t matter this year. Torts might not get that, but that’s the truth. In fact, they need to be losing. In that sense, scratching Michkov helps achieve that, but that’s not why Torts did it. He’s just a hard headed coach that thinks he knows it all.

Michkov had 2pts. It worked out great. He had tired legs the previous games and had jump in this one. We're not just trying to win games, we're trying to develop young talent, too.

No problem at all with it and in fact I like it.
Two games is too far.

Putting him with shitty linemates when he returns is too far.

If that's the plan it needs to come from the front office. Coaches tend to wanna win games.

Exactly. Torts will not lose games for the sake of any prospect. His job is to win games no matter how he achieves that. I don’t even think he would take any sort of upper management directive to start playing Michkov regardless of his defensive play. He’s too old and experienced for that

There are always candidates when you lose, Bobby Brink started the season with a four-game point streak but had to sit three after he had been pointless in two. Michkov played a lot in those games and now with Michkov out Brink got a better look in turn. Michkov returns and Frost is out. The way to avoid being in the mix is to play the right way and deliver.
If Tippet got benched a single time after being one of our worst players in the first 10 games, or if Laughton got scratched after being one of our worst players in pretty much... every game, then what you said would have weight.

You see that called all the time in the nhl
Michkov was undisciplined with the second and third shot and was called for it.

It was a dumb penalty to take but it didn’t cost him and im sure torts let him know not to do something like that in a situation like year again

The guys a rookie and has not been struggling lol. People need to get a job and a little less time on here if you’re going to be cutting up a rookie not even a quarter of the way into the season like holy crap you’d think the guy is Sean Avery the way people (habs fans) hate him.

Hate your own team for not picking him. It’s not a lindros case where he forced himself out of quebec. Montreal and any team before Philly could’ve picked the guy and they didn’t. Think it’s just extra salt to the wound with how reinbacher has been since drafted. Again get mad at your own team for horrible drafting.

Hab fans are quite literally the biggest babies in the NHL- even worse than leaf fans. And I’m not even a flyers fan but I think it’s a joke how Hab fans bash any other prospect (wright, sennecke, Michkov to name a few) and then praise demidov and overrate the hell out of guys like Josh Roy just because he’s from Quebec.

Are you sure it's not a victim complex you are reading from.

I see lots of posts criticizing parts of his game, others over hyping him to all heck.

Saying 'hes not quite got Kaprizov/Kucherov ceiling for these reasons' isn't hating a guy, that's assessing a prospect.

Unless there's someone in the thread I've got blocked who's saying something else

So we aren't giving Torts any credit for making him a better person? Tough crowd

He probably did but you know Torts is also thinking *at least it was a nice right jab* and not some ticky tac lazy stick infraction

1.Not every russian, not even close. I didn't predict Michkov to bust for example. Do you even read?
2.Panarin and Kaprizov were actually 2 guys whom I predicted to be good(they exceeded my expectations, but I think, not only mine)
3.I don't memorize russian busts, there were so many in last 10-15 years, I can easily make them from my head LOL
