I don't see the issue (and the tweet above contains some editorialization). The season is a grind for a young player coming from another league. Spending one night resting and refocusing isn't a bad idea.
It depends. He needs to be back in the lineup next game with a clean slate. If he’s not, it becomes a problem. You can’t keep scratching a star young player over some minor defensive issues. Once or twice throughout a season to keep them motivated and working hard, sure.

They are and have been ingrained
Torts is trying to correct them
You can’t just continue to let him play how he wants or how he thinks he’s helping the team
Kaprizov won't agree with you. Torts is a hothead who has low patience threshold and is in love with grinders. Michkov should not be playing in the nhl for the flyers under torts. It is a recipe for disaster.

Tbh he was allowed a lot in Sochi, basically MM and Tyanulin were doing whatever they wanted, and there was basically no defensive system in the team anyway, not in a long run. So I was worried that he might've picked bad habits during his time there. Or more like reverted to Junior habits and didn't learn much about defensive awareness in a pro game. Still, I didn't think Torts would scratch him. I knew defensive game and not great skating were gonna be a problem but still hoping that Torts would give him opportunities to learn. I guess he was tired of waiting on improvements. I'm not a big Torts' fan but I don't think he's doing anything bad or turning Mich into a grinder. He needs to learn a little defensive awareness, it's not 90's anymore you can't just say 'screw defence, not my problem'. Or earlier 00's I guess, like Kovalchuk. But he was fast and big unlike Mich. But gotta say I'm not gonna watch next Flyers game, the way they play is sad even with Mich in roster. And he was definitely not the only one who played poorly, whole team looks depressing.

More games off would be really good for Michkov.

He's not at the point where he can play with sustained energy for 82 games. I suspect not even 70 games.

If you want to see the best that Michkov can offer then you should hope he's not played to exhaustion.

There's no way you're serious when hating this much
You are using the word serious here?

Did you look at that avatar?

One game isn't a big deal, no one not even Torts is expecting another Hossa here just more detail and attention and Michkov has been struggling and certainly isn't a finished product yet.

There are 2 camps on Michkov

First camp are people who think he is a very talented player, one of the most talented in his generation and if developed properly might become an over PPG player for long time.
This camp is called "the haters"

Another camp is pushing a theory that Michkov is Gretzky/Lemieux or at least McDavid tier player. Hence the overblown expectations(like the mood now and Torts bashing after a recent slump) and overrated past performances(best junio KHL siason evar!) while mocking, dismissing and agressively snapping at the factual evidence that challenges their perception.

I can’t type what I wanna type but this is hilarious, no one thinks he’s generational Gretzky / Mario level lol. But he’s certainly in the Bedard tier. You’re repeatedly posting nonsense about a teenager. lol. It’s ok Garl, it’s ok. Let’s talk about Kunlun, I like Kunlun Garl better. In fact I’ll pay you 100$ usd via PayPal if you change your name to Kunlun Garl and keep the handle for a year 🤣🤣

Don’t take the bait and let people beat you over the head that Michkov’s rookie season isn’t going well.

Scratched, whatever. One game. It’s not the biggest deal. Chalk it up to Torts factor and all. They won a game without him (scoring 1 goal I’ll remind you)? Oilers win without McJ. So what?

10 points in 13 games. That’s what matters. It’s going well. Don’t let them change the message.

3 5v5 points with first like toi, a defensive liability , and a lot of fans are saying he looked tired after like 10 games. It’s absolutely the right decision. There’s more to hockey than scoring points

For what it is worth, he only has one 5v5 point. The other two are 4v4 and 6v5. (I don't know what 6v5 technically counts as.)

The Flyers won and Florida is a big physical team. It's only logical for Michkov to skip the next game too. After they are shellacked there he will get another chance. But Michkov looks ecactly how looked for his whole career. He won't change his game after being benched one time, or even ten. Not sure what they are trying to do here.

Its not the only thing that matters. The 1 5-on-5 point matters. The fact that he showed he can function in the NHL outside of 5 on 5 play matters. The defensive issues matter. The times he looked lost out there matter.

The thing that matters the most though is his age.

Outside of his special team stats (which slowed down considerably), he hasn't been doing well. That's quite okay too, dude is 19.

Philly needs to build a team still, Michkov's struggles might be a positive for them. It shows that they have time to be patient.
