Or he could whine about not getting special treatment and force a loan to Sochi. I hear that works these days.
Not like Sochi would get exceptions from everything I listed aside from the MHL/VHL (although one can say that they actually are a VHL team), it would add another issue though - having Donat Stalnov as your linemate lol.

It seems organisation always want their 1st round picks to play as fast as possible in the league, so maybe the three years contract in the KHL is even more of a red flag than we think.

Excited for this kid to be drafted so we can try to focus on his NHL skillset instead of off-ice BS. He’s a freak

It’s an absolute joke that people have Fantilli ranked over this guy. I don’t care about the 3 year wait. If a GM picks anyone over Michkov at 2OA they’ll be fired by the time he reaches the league.

It's absolutely Not going to end when he's drafted. Another reason he's likely to drop in the draft, GM's have to answer to a lot of people who are not on HF boards. People with money/influence and questions about why you drafted this Russian kid when so and so was on the board and is looking good with x other team. People who don't have prospectitus, people who don't give a shit about the khl. Real world shit, rather than the fantasy land people here live in.
I say that as someone absolutely believes in his talent. 3 years is a long time to have to answer the same annoying questions over and over and over...

Just as likely they might be fired for picking Michkov. Who gives a rip what he's doing in the KHL if Fantilli or Carlsson just scored 30+ goals. You and I might care, and be patient, many others won't.

On talent alone, he should go no later than 2nd. Outside factors could cause him to fall. I wish that the Habs would choose him if he was available at their pick, but I don't see them picking a small Russian winger with their first pick, because of all the rumours that were swirling around the team prior to last year's draft.

Nothing I've heard to this point indicates that there has been a change in the rumours. Alas, even if I disagree, I'm not about to change my allegiances after loving this team for 50+ years.

Some of the bottom dwelling GMs will be fired if they dont get things turned around within 3 years ...could be a factor

No chance in hell WAS let's Michkov slip past them.
Not impossible, McLellan has been a pretty meh drafter overall. He can easily look at the fact that they drafted Miroschinenko last year and not go with a Russian winger again. Hopefully if Michkov is on the board Ovechkin smacks him

Gives me Tarasenko vibes, everyone thought he was a top 5 no brainer and he slipped all the way to 16 (with Ottawa giving up that pick for Rundblad rofl) and has been an easy top 3 first rounder from that draft

can anyone confirm, if let’s say said NHL team drafts this Russian kid, and they wait 3 yrs, does that mean the NHL team only has 4 yrs left of control before going to ufa?

It's age 27 or 7 NHL seasons, so Michkov will be RFA until age 27.

I've heard glowing character references about James Reimer, from people who know him outside of hockey.
I believe inclusivity has room for people to stick with traditional values. Alienating him for his values is the opposite of inclusivity in my T

Ya, everyone. Why can’t we be inclusive of people who exclude? Heartless bastards.

For teams like Chicago and Arizona, who are purposefully playing the long rebuilding game, his KHL contract situation might actually be a positive for them.
Yep. I’ll be pissed if the hawks pass on him at 4. (Id even consider him at 3)

I think the hesitancy is what if he isn’t able to come over…like ever? That’s the issue. If it were just the three years, I’d consider him at 2.

It's not the 1980s anymore. No matter what North American politicians try to scare you into believing.

I’m hoping that since we have the Ottawa pick, giving us two high picks, we use one on him if he falls far enough. This is my dream scenario.

So.. is he done? That it? Does he go to combine? Does he go to Draft? Doing zoom chats with GM's? Dryland training and hoping to crack SKA next season?

There are plans that Team Russia U25 will have games against Belarus and Kazakhstan in May, roster isn't announced yet, but I think we might see him there.

Is U25 a normal thing? I've never heard of that. I don't like Belarus or Kazakh chances in this at all.

Is it confirmed that he will spend 3 years in Russia? If so then he’s going to slip out of the top 8. No team will use a high draft pick for a player that can’t control or develop for 3 years.
