RW Matthew Coronato - Calgary Wranglers, AHL (2021, 13th, CGY)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Honzek took his spot, not much else to say.

Be injuries and trades to make room for him. Honzek will likely go down as well at some point
This. Plan always seemed to be to ease him into things either with bottom 6 time or AHL time, then guaranteed top 6 time the last 3rd of the season after Mantha was gone. The fact he’s still with the team suggests he’s alternating in when Honzek undoubtedly sits a game or two, and potentially for if Honzek is sent down before Sharangovich is back.

Ya signing Mantha pretty much guaranteed it. Whatever, either Honzek and Coronato play or the vets play well and we can trade them.

Let the defense have 10-15 games to figure things out anyway. Likely be some ugly hockey at the start

Agree with Bob Germany.
Kevin Rooney should really not be playing over this kid.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is an NHL 30 goal scorer. Has the rare mix of a guy who can score from distance and beat goalies clean as easily as he can be a net front guy. He’s just struggled getting his open looks as he adapts to a faster paced league, the glimpses he shows are great though.

I am just as impressed by his first goal of the night

Sure, that's a much more impressive goal. OT winner is always going to add some flair though.

I've bounced around from Honzek, to Zary, to Coronato as to whose my favorite 4 times already this season.

Hit the 20 goal mark in his first full season after a 2 goal performance today. He’s not technically a rookie since he played 11 too many games last year, but when compared against his peers in the class he shows really well.

Coronato: 64 games, 20G, 17A, 37P
Gauthier: 69 games, 13G, 21A, 34P
Stankoven: 64 games, 10G, 21A, 31P
Bourque: 62 games, 10G, 12A, 22P

Gauthier was drafted 2022, Stankoven and Coronato in 2021, and Bourque in 2020. A lot of people have been sleeping on Coronato and his potential.

If I were the Flames management I'd give him a max deal worth like 50 mill or so. I have a good feeling he'll easily be considered underpaid in the future with that deal.

He’s more of a complete player than I was expecting. I think everyone knew he had the shot, but he backchecks well and doesn’t cheat a lot. Given his size he’s never going to be super physical, but he doesn’t hurt the team defensively at all.
