Yeah i am a Swede i know how our last names are made. Nicknames dont have to be anyting about the name or the first name. Or are you refering to "Homersson" , "The magic mansson" aka " Pashasson", " Sid the kidsson"," Foppasson" , "Mojosson", " Grannysson" ," Hammersson" , "Lurchdottir"? ;)
But yeah i don like Olaf, it just popped up in my brain. Liked the game thou.

She's Icelandic, I know... Great Artist in my opinion.

VO is going to afford Jack a lot of time and space on the powerplay if he keeps blowing pucks by goalies like this next season. Such a crazy release for a relatively smaller forward.

Reinhart
Eichel -- Skinner/Nylander/whoever -- Olofsson

Dahlin

This is great development for VO. Sure having him in the AHL all year must have been frustrating for Sabres fans but letting him figure out the north american game and then give him a taste in the NHL like this to finish the season will get him hungry for next year.

Cant wait to see how he does next season

His shot is disgusting

Legitimate threat to score 30, and I'm expecting at least 20. It seems like people in hockey circles know who he is already and expect him to be a player, but I think he's gonna catch a lot of fans by surprise this season.

Olofsson is probably one of the most underrated prospects in the league. He's going to light it up this year.

Thinking of drafting this guy in a keeper league. What do you guys think his potential is? I would have him for 7 years so not just this year potential.

Can he hit 40, 50, 60, 70? Points only pool.

This kid is very good.
That Olofsson - Johansson - Asplund line gave every one of Toronto's lines and defense fits all game.
But where he really shined was with Reinhart and Johansson.

Wicked shot to. Buffalo definitely hit on a late round sleeper here. Line 2 LW this season, with a really good shot at 30+/60-65.

This year, I think most Sabres fan are hoping for a 20 + 20 type year.

His potential is sky high. Hard to put a number on it but he has the potential to score 30+ goals and produce at a first line rate down the road. Whether he reaches that potential is still obviously very up in the air given he has only 6 NHL games.

I think in the right situation he can eventually be a big point producer. He is a more well-rounded player than he was years ago at Modo where he was almost a PP specialist forward for a while. He has good vision and passing, moves well, even mucks up for pucks at the NHL level. His shot is already elite at the NHL level, of course.

A question for you folks who watched Olofsson play in Sweden. Why wasn't there more talk about this guy? I've gone back to draft guides from 2014 and 2013 and there is no mention of him. Zero. He had good production in the J18 in his first draft-eligible year and then lit up the J20 SuperElit as a 18yo in D+1 (which prompted Buffalo) to take a gamble on him. Was there some weaknesses in his game? What areas has he improved since then? Seems like a classic late bloomer.

He was probably at around 5’9 and a half or 5’10 in his draft year if he is 5’11 now as a 24 years old, so size factor definitely had a role

In his draft year, he was listed at 5'7" and <160lbs, but that wasn't his actual size. Just a couple weeks after the draft, at the Sabres 2014 development camp, he weighed in at 5'11" and 177lbs. So probably more an issue of believed size than actual. I'd bet a number of teams didn't even scout him---unranked and listed as that small, why bother, right?

Olofsson played in Modo during a time when they had a ton of interesting prospects (Nylander, Hägg, Kempe, Timashov, Grundström and a few more who got drafted). He probably got a bit lost in that mix but he also wasn't that great. He always disappeared in international tournaments and tended to play too much on the perimeter.
