All the teams in Europe, new IIHF rules.

Ok. Didn't know that. There was news in MTV3's text tv that KalPa moves their bluelines. Thought it was just their thing. Why even make that news about KalPa if every team does the same thing?

How is the camp going for kapanen? Will we se him play at least some preseason games?!

I saw some remarks how calm and confident he moves around in the locker room - it's being attributed to him growing up with Sami Kapanen playing in the NHL.

Some quotes regarding Kapanen from those watching the open practice yesterday:

@JoshYohe_Trib How did Kapanen look in practice today?
@TheCraig5 Pretty good. Will have a better feel for him tomorrow.

Yea, Kapanen is going to be sick. He is the complete package. If he has a good camp, the Penguins could very well find a spot for him. Even if he doesn’t get a spot, in two years he’ll be in the top six no questions asked.

Camp isn't really good for for individuals to shine right now, since it is mostly chaos with the new systems being put in place, so you can't really say much about him. I think he will definitely get some games in during the preseason. The penguins are hungry for a winger, and will give him chances to impress them.

It seems like that Pens hit homerun again with falling fin at 22nd pick. Too early to tell but looks promising so far.

If they do it for a third time in 2015/2016/... I'll see other teams taking notice and starting to think twice before overlooking Finnish prospects.

Pens confirmed for getting either Rantanen or Saarela in the next draft.

Rookie Kasperi Kapanen enjoyed his best practice of training camp. He twice blew wrist shots past goaltender Thomas Greiss' stick while skating down his preferred right wing. Kapanen hadn't looked out of place during the opening days of camp but didn't stand out, either. He was one of the most noticeable players on the ice Sunday.

I wonder how long are they planning to keep him there. KalPa needs him this year, when they actually have a more solid team, they can win something. He hasn't real shot to NHL, right? I hope he does fine but at this point, I hope even more he just gets back to Kuopio asap.

I don't know about that. I think he could get 9 games in NHL at least.

His chances of playing 82 games this season don't look too good, in my opinion. But without watching him and with him sitting out the prospect tournament, it's hard to tell. The Penguins really pumped his tires after development camp 2 months ago, and that was the first time he skated that summer.

I'm not sure of all his options, but maybe the AHL could be a good choice, too.

But it looks like he'll be in the NHL in the next few years - maybe sooner, maybe later.

I think KalPa would be best for him, I think a good preseason could get him a 9 game trial though.

Update after his first game:

Started out not very visible - neither showing good nor bad things. He really picked up steam as the game went on, finished a good hit in the 2nd, and had two good scoring chances. A nice surprise was his defensive awareness.

And all that with a less than impressive Penguins lineup (Marcel Goc was the 1st line center, and Kapanen played with Craig Adams at times). Now I want to see what he can do with some top 6 players.

He played decently. Had a few flashes, but looked pretty tentative a lot of the time. That should disappear as he gets older and has more experience. He should definitely go back to KalPa (I wouldn't bother giving him the 9 games), and should be ready to challenge for a spot next season, provided he comes in with a bit more confidence.

I'm not sure why people assume it's better for prospects already playing pro in the SM-Liiga or SweHL to play one more season overseas instead of playing in the AHL.

Well, maybe it's better to play in Liiga because hes playing against men's instead of boys. There are grownups in the AHL too but I think that competition would be harder in Liiga than it would be in AHL.Only positive thing that I would find is that he would get used to smaller rink, and those games that i've seen from him.He already knows how to play in small ice.

EDIT:And Liiga is not beer league kind of league,it's pretty competitive so anykind of tough competition to a young kid is good for him.Or do you disagree?
