I think it will be the norm rather than a down year. Still good but not superstar good.Yes, 30 goals seems to be a down year for him. Your comment is hilarious.

You're entitled to your opinionI think it will be the norm rather than a down year. Still good but not superstar good.
Meh, when TPS fans who've followed this team for 30 years say that they haven't seen an offensive talent like Kakko on the team ever, that's an indication that he's something special. Notable NHL forwards who've come from TPS: Saku & Mikko Koivu, Mikko Rantanen & Jere Lehtinen.
I know a lot of ignorant people here **** on Jack Hughes without having seen him play a single game, but i feel like there is also some SERIOUS underestimating of Kaapo Kakko going on. Point totals never tell the whole story, if it was that easy, then teams would have no reason to send their scouts around the globe to watch the players actually play. I see Sam Reinhart & Tkachuck comparisons and i can't help but shake my head.
Not sure why people are so damn afraid to hype up these prospects. I remember when nobody believed that Laine could score against NHL goalies. People were talking about Matthews scoring like 25+25 in his rookie season. Pettersson's too skinny for the NHL. Brady Tkachuck is overrated, he only has only 8 goals in NCAA. Kotkaniemi who? Montreal screwed up! This is a young man's league. These kids will succeed and they'll be kids when they do it.
Hughes and Kakko will be going at it in 2019-2020 Calder race. And the same people underestimating these players will be underestimating the next crop of youngsters.
Yeah. "I wanna see him do that against an NHL goalie" was a regular thing people kept saying.People said laine couldnt score on nhl goalies? News to me.
Hes got a great shot so he always score goals. I don't think he will ever be a rocket richard winner, because there is more to scoring goals than just a shot, and laine isnt really a great player outside of his shot. But that has nothing to do with nhl goalies.
That's such a dreadfully bad comparable. He's far more skilled. They don't even play the same style. Peter Forsberg is the best one so far.Brady Tkachuk is the player comparable then.
I wish you were joking but this is true. Somehow, Finnish players' skills will never translate to NHL. But going top 65 in OHL scoring history is a "historical season".Yeah. "I wanna see him do that against an NHL goalie" was a regular thing people kept saying.
So you think that 20 year old Patrik Laine will not develop anymore? He's done?People said laine couldnt score on nhl goalies? News to me.

I have no idea what he will or will not develop into. I wiuldnt bet on him ever becoming above average at anything else but i obviously dont know for certain. So you think that 20 year old Patrik Laine will not develop anymore? He's done?
We can split hairs over who's better but I think in the end both will be elite players and the teams that get them will be happy. Hot take I know.Meh, when TPS fans who've followed this team for 30 years say that they haven't seen an offensive talent like Kakko on the team ever, that's an indication that he's something special. Kakko definetely has a lot in common to Forsberg in a way he controls the puck in tight places with great hands and gap control. Forsberg was also known as shifty skater with sharp turns, wraparound tries and reverse hits that made him really hard to contain. Kakko is having these same manners and even that hesitation to shoot if we name one con at the early ssn reminded of Peter who always seemed to look for a beauty goal instead of easy decision on his own.
So all in all I wuld say Forsberg is the closest comparison to style that Kakko plays obviously.

Thing is, I don't think it'll be close enough for both teams to be happy. We can split hairs over who's better but I think in the end both will be elite players and the teams that get them will be happy. Hot take I know.
I couldn't agree more. I was just looking into Forsberg vids from the Tube yesterday shortly after the TPS game and the resemblance almost felt weird. Despite of one playing in the NHL and the other in the FEL, nevermind that one was in the prime and the other being still an undrafted prospect. No need to go into detail about similarities since you covered almost everything there already.
Kakko has been getting better and better as the season has progressed and should his overall development evolve similarly, there's no telling if he could come close to reaching those heights. The odds are always against, but at least his story looks to have a remarkable beginning.
Ha, everything about this post is so invalid that it seems like you might have more news ahead of you than you think.
I agree with this.I have no idea what he will or will not develop into. I wiuldnt bet on him ever becoming above average at anything else but i obviously dont know for certain.
It may irritate yiu but its true.
Okay. If youre paying attention how many goals has he scored in the last 30 games? Not at all. I don't care what people think, especially ones with no real knowledge. Doubt anyone else actually buys that non-sense anymore than I do. Something that actually happened in the past turned out to be "news" for you. So what does that tell the rest of us? Well I would certainly say it means not paying attention, which probably means not even following the player.
Okay. If youre paying attention how many goals has he scored in the last 30 games?
How many have been scored against him? Would the corrwct answer be "a lot. More than any other teammate by a mile"?
Funny because I have followed TPS 30 years sharp this spring And to be fair the best prospect who has played in TPS was Saku Koivu 94-95. But he was couple of years older than Kakko is and that is of course a big difference. From all the 17-18 year olds from the last thirty years?Meh, when TPS fans who've followed this team for 30 years say that they haven't seen an offensive talent like Kakko on the team ever, that's an indication that he's something special. On the point of Koivu, we will never know how good he would have been without injuries, so that makes sense.Funny because I have followed TPS 30 years sharp this spring And to be fair the best prospect who has played in TPS was Saku Koivu 94-95. Kakko and it's not even close.

2 and a half years older, yeah. Half a year older, Koivu scored 10 points in 46 games in Liiga. Such is the evolution.Funny because I have followed TPS 30 years sharp this spring And to be fair the best prospect who has played in TPS was Saku Koivu 94-95. But we also have to keep in mind that Liiga was back then way way better league than it is now. The best league after NHL hands down. But yeah those were the daysThose golden years... But still for me its hard compare S. Koivu with Kakko. Most cause at that time period TPS was Elite team with Jokerit. So if u got responsibility/talent you also had elite players around you. But when S. Koivu was 19yo he played 46g with 10p. And at he's best season 94-95 he turned 21y.
Anyway S. Koivu was fav player in TPS and long time in NHL aswell. But if need pick up from S. Koivu or K. Kakko it would definitely be Kakko. Think TPS today is way weaker than at 90's dynast, Kakko is younger than S. Koivu at the time and somehow like way more Kakko's style than Koivus
You're point?2 and a half years older, yeah. Half a year older, Koivu scored 10 points in 46 games in Liiga. Such is the evolution.
At that time, Koivu already had Olympics experience, WC experience with amazing first line performance at both, it's really tough to consider them to have been in the same situation.
It's additional info. I don't think I was disagreeing with you.You're point?
I just said that there is a difference are you 18 or 20 years old. Original post was about best prospects. Saku Koivu was a prospect back then and he was is still the most dominant prospect in 30 years in a TPS uniform.
Yeah I don't think we are in disagreement. Saku was the best 19-20 year old prospect and Kakko is the best 17-18 year old prospect. It's additional info. I don't think I was disagreeing with you.
