Wow, finally the MacT did what every normal person would do, put a fast and talanted skater and player next to Mcdavid instead of a bunch of slower plugs he needs to carry...

McDavid& Pulju have clear chemistry, Pulju obviously gains a lot by playing with McDavid but it also helps McDavid to have a skater who can keep up with him, he draws some attention away from McD with his speed and JP helps on the checking game as well.
In the 1st 30 mins or so they seemed to have a scoring chance/'s every shift.

I just hope Todd gives them real time together, 1st line scored 3 ES goals last night.

Was compared to Wheeler at the draft, and I'm starting to see the similarities. Wheeler took a while to become the player his is. I don't think it will take Jesse that long, but I have a ton of patience with him.

I will reiterate something I have said about 10 times in this thread now. I still don't know how people who watch this kid think he has low hockey IQ. He's almost always in the right place, clearly sees the ice well in terms of his playmaking vision, and while his decision making still isn't perfect at the NHL level, its making noticeable improvements the more he plays and matures.

I'll stand by what I said about him when he was drafted. He has the potential to be a better goal scoring, better defensive Taylor Hall type player. In other words, I think he'll end up at minimum a 30-30-60 guy or a near PPG player as his ceiling (league scoring dependent).

I thought Jesse played a terrific game last night. Really could have had 3 or 4 goals in the first period alone. I see him figuring out in the last few games, he was one of the few good players against the Leafs also. Just keep it simple. Play with energy and drive to the net. The thing I was impressed about is he is starting to use his size and a nose for the net. I don't know what his corsi was in the first period alone, but playing against the Tkachuk line and beating them in SAT% is a major victory since the Tkackuk line are usually monsters when it comes to possession. This had a lot to do with Puljujarvi. He is generating chances, and if he can finish, he will have turned the corner. After a 2 goal game, I think he can feel like he has arrived, where he doesn't have to feel he may be pulled by Mclellen each game. Hopefully he will continue to play with Lucic and McDavid. They seem to have great chemistry together.

I 100% agree with everything you said

Can't blame him, there isn't any winger in the team and not that many in the league that wouldn't be the gainer with him.

Only thing missing now is Jesse being utilized properly on the PP. Should take Letestu's spot on the top PP as the one-time option for McDavid on the left circle. The way they're using Jesse right now on the 2nd PP unit doesn't make a ton of sense to me. He's floating in the high slot with Draisaitl playing the left side trying to set up Cammalleri's one-timer which really doesn't utilize Jesse's shot at all.

They really need to get it together and just run a top unit of McDavid-Klefbom-Puljujarvi-Draisaitl-Maroon/Lucic. Nuge QB's the 2nd unit better than Draisaitl imo anyways.

This is true. Pulju is used to playing PP in the Ovi spot either as a one-timer option or as a playmaker on the half-wall. When he played on the same PP with Laine during the 2016 WJC he obviously wasn't the main shooter of that line, but even then he played low on the left side serving as a near goal one-timer option, playmaker and puck retriever. Never before have I seen him used in the high slot - just seems like a bad fit.

Yeah thats really where I'd like to see him. He looked phenomenal in the U18's as the QB from that spot.

I wish he played a pain in the ass gritty game cause he has one of those smiles that you wanna punch haha.. Reminds me of when Barnaby smiled!

He was outstanding tonight easily could have had 3 or more points. Him and McDavid developing chemistry.

Pretty soon it'll be time to shut down his prospect page because he's moved on. His game is looking a lot better.

Pulju was simply outsanding last night, the 1st line dominated the game.
Saved a goal few times, skated all game and had chances and created chances basically every shift.

Still a damm shame to not see him on the pp.

He has powerful shot but his accuracy is really bad. Needs more practice.
It's weird how his shots so rarely find the net despite how quick and hard his shot is. What's even more weird, Pulju actually won Laine easily in the accuracy contest they had before the 2016 WJC. Obviously he has a great shot, but during actual gameplay I think he might be concentrating too on shooting as hard as he can and that always takes a bit away from your accuracy. He might also be picking the corners too much and not placing his shots in an optimal way in general.

His best game as a pro easily. He was phenomenal and playing with confidence. Got an extra couple shifts at the end of the game as a reward.

I wouldn't put too much trust in a contest like that - anyone who has played hockey could shoot it 4/4 with some luck.

On the other hand he's also hitting the posts so often I don't know if you should call that accurate or inaccurate, but anyway too bad those don't count.

Looking at the pass to McDavid it's so nice he gets to play with someone who can deal with those passes. Far too often I've seen great fast passes that lead to nothing because the recepient just wasn't expecting it. With McDavid there's no problems in that.

He's not bad or anything but Jesse is getting too much credit. More needs to go to the Wonderboy.

He again showed signs of his potential of being a line driver, scoring chances on every shift(felt like it) and a strong 200ft effort.

McDavid certainly helps Pulju, but we can ignore McDavid and look at plays just Pulju did and still be impressed after yesterdays game.
He made multiple strong defensive plays, he carried the puck well and with speed few times through the neutral zone, and he was skating all game.

I would also say Pulju doesn't just benefit from McDavid, McDavid benefits from playing with JP as well, due to the speed they can go with, just less than Pulju benefits from playing with McDavid.
If Pulju is allowed to stay with McDavid for a good amount of time my trust levels for his development will go through the roof.

Agreed completely. They feed off each other and Pulju has the speed to keep up with McDavid.

That nifty passing play between McDavid and Pulju on the Auvitu was world class hockey. You can tell they like playing together, both are still just kids too. The chemistry will only grow.

Worth mentioning too is how good Pulju is defensively, he's very responsible in his own end.
