Agreed, wasn't overly fantastic in my viewings in Finland but given this years first round class, I can't see any way he slides out of it.

He didn't look great and it was obvious he wasn't completely healed after his concussion(?).

He wasn't 100% during this tournament. It was very clear. He was much better at the WJC when he was at full health. To me Pastrnak is a top 15 guy with out question. Just look at how good he played in the allsvenskan. Extremely talented player

This is accurate. He was way more assertive at the WJC. In fact, he had the more offensive punch between he and Vrana.

Pastrnak is a hard winger for defenseman to track as he has quick agility with the puck and shoots in and out of lanes. His offensive MO is to quickly shift gears, always to high gear, and change direction seemingly all while drawing the puck with him magnetically. He gets surprising heat on his shot when on the move for a guy who can stand to put some weight on. He has very good defensive awareness, contrary to cliché reports, and shows intensity to finish plays out to his goal line. He really backchecks hard and makes plays on the puck shutting opposing attacks down.

One thing you immediately notice though is his aggressiveness can both work for or against him. You wish he could ease off the gas once in awhile, and not rush himself so much that he makes errant passes or even loses his skating edge because he’s so intent on being maxed out. If he slows down and shows situational composure, he has the potential to be a game breaking stud winger who has a high capitalization rate. The only other issue that will improve with time is he tends to get negated out of plays easily due to his slight stature if he can’t outright beat them with speed.

I'd loved for SJ to get him at 20.

The Czech forward has a knack for the flamboyant and lets it all out on the ice. Pastrnak has all the offensive tools and does well to implement them. His passing ability is also excellent, allowing him to string together passes with pinpoint perfection.

I don't know about this. After watching him closely at the WJC and U18s, one thing that stood out to me was the frequency to which his passes were either deflected, intercepted, or just went wildly to no one. In the U18 game against Canada, I counted more than 10 intercepted/deflected passes; that's not a hyperbole. It was incredibly frustrating to watch him continually force a pass that wasn't there. Some might say he was still hindered by his injury, but I saw the same tendencies in the WJC.

He is certainly creative, but i also feel he makes a lot of low % plays. I've said it before, but he is rather reckless with the puck.

I agree with Anthony that he is a ball of energy, which works for and against him. I see a frenetic player that needs to reel it.

He weighed in at 6' 168 at the combine, so he grew a few inches, now he needs to bulk up with an NHL weight program/coach. If he can add 20 lbs of muscle I think that would solve the size issue for the most part

@SeanLafortune Pastrnak, like Zacha, has also said that he'll continue his career in Europe. Per @UffeBodin he said that in the NHL draft.

9 points in his first 7 games in the AHL. At 18 years old. Doesn't turn 19 until after the season. Probably has a little leg up given his stint as a pro against men in Sweden.
