Pastrnak have to be consider to be the number 2 after Ekblad right now.

1: Ekblad
2: Pastrnak
3: Nylander
4: Ehlers
5: Reinhart
6: Fiala

That Pastrnak was extremly underrated in the draft can not come as a surprise for anyone that saw him in allsvenskan, even for those that didnt see him, the stats alone should have been a good indication of that, espically since he was one of the more younger player in that draft.

Interesting how all the smaller offensive wingers rise, is this based on another other then stats? Because it's pretty unlikely teams would rather those guys then the centers who were picked.

Two goals away from Seguin's and Kessel's rookie year goal totals, while playing half a season less than those two.

This guy has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Very, very underrated skill. He's gonna score a lot of points in the future.

I really don't think you can make that claim after one season post draft...? Most players haven't even had a chance yet. Remember when Skinner was the better pick than Seguin?

He is very....VERY slick, and plays an unbelievably complete game for his age.

His defensive skills are FAR above average for his age and position... And he isn't known at all for playing a two-way game. He uses his speed on the backcheck and he steals the puck 2 or 3 times a game.

He's not big but he goes right to the net and a lot of his goals have been from there. His shot is kind of inconsistent, he can snipe one, then he can't lift the puck off the ice for another 2 or 3 shots. Probably because he's not that strong yet. But a lot of his goals come from in front of the net or from his hands.

Once he puts on 10-15 pounds he's going to be an animal. He's getting a lot of good experience this year and he's putting up some amazing numbers. A 47 point (24 goal pace over 82gp) is awesome for any rookie, especially for him. He's underweight by a pretty good margin. And he still doesn't get manhandled out there. He hits more than he is hit. He has a great work ethic and he's gotten better every single game. I wouldn't be surprised if he improves a lot over the summer and gets a spot on one of the top two lines. So impressed with what he's done this season but he's only beginning.

It's been a long time since we've had a prospect that's this exciting. As great as Seguin was, his rookie season was only OK, mostly because he had a very minor role and sat out a lot of games. He didn't really get as much hype as Pastrnak is getting among Bruins fans until he scored those two goals in the ECF. If you told me Pastrnak was going to play one game this season, or even next season, I wouldn't have believed you. We got incredibly lucky with him. Every time I watch him I'm just blown away that he's only 18.

I think the draft was way off even at the draft day. No huge different between now and before the draft for me, Ehlers maybe. Pastrnak was criminally underrated in the draft and Nylander was easily at the draft day the best available player.

Now I rate Ekblad as number one since he is most proven (at the draft day I would have him as number 2)

Pastrnak is after Ekblad the most proven one, at the draft day I would have him in top 5.

Nylander has dominated pretty much every where he played and start to that now as well in AHL.

Ehlers was a big surprise in WJC 20n for me, and he hasnt exactly been bad in qmjhl.

Reinhart was great in WJC 20, however his stats in WHL is worse then compare to last year. However it wouldnt matter that much, he would not break the top 3 anyway, maybe go past Ehlers. The others are simple more proven and have just as high ceiling if not higher. He is also the oldest here (all the others is 96 he is 95). However he is a huge talent, but I would have pick him a little bit lower then number 2.

Fiala is a huge talent and fairly proven

I would have about the same before the draft as well. But things will change, that Im sure off as well.

If he would have play the whole season and having this PPG, he would be on pace for 49 points. It looks like the scouts have mess it up again, no surprise there.

Show me your list from before the draft since you are so smart. This post is kinda silly, when you start saying things like "proven" for players drafted 9 months ago it's tough to take seriously.

I keep forgetting that he's the youngest player in the NHL. He's so tricky and elusive with the puck. It seems like he's going to get nailed every game but players can't get near him. Hornqvist almost killed himself today by attempting a hit and going head first into the boards instead

He must have learnt something then.

Ouch

His concussions in Sweden are the only reason he slipped to 25 in the draft. He plays with his head up these days, probably as a result of hits like that one.

He is number 2 if you only count points in the NHL this year. :shakehead

I still think it's pretty crazy he's doing this as a 170 pound 18 year old in his first season playing on North American ice. It's not like he's one of those physically mature teenagers. Maybe he'll always be one of those light/elusive wingers, but if he ever puts on weight while still maintaining his agility and speed... Watch out. So much skill and sense. He's been quite possibly the Bruins most consistent offensive threat since his 2nd recall and beginning of the new year (9 goals/18 points in 26 games).

Why are you frustrated over how boston is drafting as a Leaf fan? Is it some rivalry between boston and toronto? Because I do not see how it impact you, Pastrnak would have been drafted either way, if not by Boston, then by someone else, and it you where not next to pick a player.

Just frustrating to see a team who has had recent success draft better than my team. Boston has no place in my heart either, game 7. It's not that I don't what to see the player doing well. I'm sure Pastrnak will end up a very good player for the Bruins, and that is the part I don't like.

Pastrnak is better than Reinhart because points. Well can't possibly argue with that incredibly in depth analysis.

Who knows how these guys will turn out in the end but I don't think there would be any buffalo fans complaining if Reinhart stuck in the NHL this year and performed as well as Pastrnak has. Some people are going to value that over potential. It's not a slight towards Reinhart at all.

And Pastrnak is closer to a rookie Bergeron than a rookie Kessel or Seguin defensively, so his game isn't all about points.

Nylander was a better player in the SWE hockey system (not by much but still), it might be so that Pastrnak has passed him now in progress, I don't know, but at the time of the draft it was natural to have Nylander over Pastrnak.

Fair enough. I just think it's a little early to come to conclusions when nearly all of the players from that draft class haven't even played in the NHL yet.

In a redraft I think the top 5 all go the same, I think Pastrnak would go after Dal Colle at 6.

Also, any good nicknames for him yet?

The Paster
The Father
The Reverend
The Preacher?
