Too bad he didnt stay in Chelyabinsk. He'd have had reasonable minutes in the KHL this year, and next year probably would be top 2 line player. Unlike an Ak Bars or whoever, Traktor is renound for giving young guys a chance. Instead he'll be stuck playing way below his talent level next year.

As far as I understand the KHL hasn't to respect the CHL contracts, so he can get back, if he wishes. And if not, then it's his problem...

I'm pretty sure he's signed an ELC, which means he's under control and contract of an NHL team, the KHL respects those. Now, if he wasn't under contract to an NHL team it might be a different story. As of now, the Blue Jackets have to offer him back to Gatineau, as they have first refusal under the NHL/CHL transfer agreement.

the Blue Jackets can still loan him to europe, if they choose to do so. its just that it doesn't happen often.

They can't without offering him back to Gatineau first, who will never decline that option. Goldobin got around it somehow, but I'm not exactly sure of the specifics of how that was done. But, according to the transfer agreement, he can't be offered to any other team outside of Gatineau according to the CHL/NHL agreement. But, I don't think Goldobin had signed his ELC until he had already started playing for HIFK, which may have been a way it was bypassed. I'm not sure if we ever got a clear explanation on how the Sharks were able to do it. I know in other cases, the players were on Loan, or in Yakupov his agents voided the CHL agreement.

He'd stagnate in the Q. Do wonder where that Euro contract is because that's where he's probably playing.....SHL? National League?

Usually family members are less knowledgeable than the players, in this rare case they helped him make a good hockey choice. I wish Sokolov would do the same now !

I bet he ends up in the NLA if he doesnt make the Jackets. Likely makes the most money and shouldnt hinder his development at all (Matthews did well for ZSC).

NLA is is soft, skilled players dream, some have called it a skating league. I hope he goes to a more physical league. It's not always easy to transition from this league to the NHL unless you're a freak like Matthews.

Now if only other Q players take this route. Wish PLD did the same.

That would make the Q much weaker. You have to be exceptional North American to consider this option or a really good European player imo.

I think SHL teams should be hungry for kids like these. They learn a good 2 way playstyle and we get some sexy talents. Felt weird noone went after Strome...

Interesting situation to monitor.

Does Traktor owns his rights in KHL?

Or can he go to a lesser team with more playing time?

Most likely, but I am not sure. Only KHL CIB (league´s register of players contracts/rights to players) can confirm it.
