I love his size and strength, and he has some decent skill, but just seems too slow and awkward to be anything more than a grinder. I can see him being a Brian Boyle type, but can't see him in a top 6 role. Pretty safe pick in the 3rd round though.

Yea I'm a little concerned he might be the next Artyukhin who was also selected in the 3rd round

Did you just watch that video, Dergachyov was able to move right around the side of the net with Darnell Nurse hanging on him like an overcoat! The only thing that saved Nurse was the double team that showed up.......thats plenty of quickness, lots of grit and determination and TREMENDOUS STRENGTH, wow that is such an impressive sequence, there are not many power forwards in the NHL that can do that. He's never going to be a 30 goal scorer but holy ****, talk about a puck possession guy...WOW

+ he's two drafts younger than Nurse!

I watched most of Russia's games in the WJC, saw a good amount of him. As I said, love his size and strength, decent skill too, but I do think he's going to be too slow/awkward for a top 6 role in the NHL. There are plenty of big, strong guys who protect the puck really well who never make it at the NHL level, someone mentioned Artyukhin in this thread, who is a pretty perfect example. I think he has a solid shot to be a good bottom 6er in the NHL, but I'd be careful about going too over the top with the star predictions.

Artyukhin had zero hockey IQ, hands of stone, and was dumb as a pile of rocks. Dergachyov has some legitimate skill, plus he's really committed defensively.

I think his potential is a beastly 3rd line guy, who could also be used to compliment skill guys in the right situations.

Which I'm sure the Kings would be thrilled with. Kopitar/Carter?/Dergachyov down the middle? Holy size.

I really think people are selling this guy short on his offensive upside. From my viewings, his hands and release are pretty solid. For being the size he is at 18, his skating is not a concern, it will improve by leaps and bounds. He's also shown some creativity with the puck to boot. If he was playing in North America he'd have been a first rounder.

If Milan Lucic can be a top 6 player in the NHL, than Dergachyev can easily reach that. In the right environment, I could see him breaking 60 points.

How's he looked lately?

Remember reading something from Freidman about Russia wanting to keep their young potential future Olympians close to home and Dergachyov was mentioned as such.

Still only getting 6ish minutes a game and not producing if I'm reading that correctly.

Would LOVE Kings development to get their hands on him ASAP. Guy could be an absolute force in our system.

This season is a nightmare for Dergachyov's development. I hope he'll come to North America next season to play with either the Shawinigan Cataractes (the QMJHL team that own his rights) or with the Ontario Reign in the AHL... another year in the KHL playing 4 to 6 minutes a game would be absolutely horrible for him!

I'm such a huge fan of this kid. What's his realistic potential? I see him as a solid scoring 3c or maybe a hard nosed 2c

I think he's a 2/3C or a top 6 winger, depending on team needs. I could see him flanking Kopitar in the future. That would be possession hell for other teams.

Way too optimistic.
Sergey Kalinin comes to mind.

Yeah I don't think he has the absolute aptitude to be a first-line sort of guy but I think he does have a ceiling as a top sixer, though most of my viewings seem to lean me towards third-liner type. He does have some very intriguing but very raw tools outside his monstrous size though. I'm just overly eager for him to get some quality time with the Kings' development staff!

I hope not. Dergachyov would get no benefit playing in the QMJHL as an overager next year.

What's up with him!? Any news? Did he just bust a development year by playing 5 minutes a game in the KHL or what!?

He is doing fine in a supporting role. Will get more responsibilities next year, depending on what he earns.
