He's an 18yr old rookie on a team that isn't forced to lean heavily on him to score goals. There is no need to rush him and they have the luxury of taking it slow to coach bad habits out of his game, like his penchant for taking tons of penalties.

The Canes owner has made it abundantly clear that he wants his team to score, score, score as much as possible and when Svech is ready for more icetime and scoring opportunities he's going to get them. You don't draft a guy with his pedigree and skillset to play him on the 3rd or 4th line his whole career. His time will come.

Svech is good. He is 18 and playing in the NHL. Players like Pettersson came at 20. I can't understand why everyone rates rookies the same. Age matters and you should not expect same from 18 year old compared to 20 year old.

Yeah, I know, Svechnikov is a future 4th-line grinder and Quinn Hughes is a future Norris winner... Fairy tale, only in Vancouver.

Odd choice of defense of your bias. Quinn Hughss has zero points in his draft+1 season. Zero games. Not even good enough to make the NHL on one of the worst teams in the league

You would be right if he had the time of a top6 playing with someone like Aho/Teuvo ... But he played most of his time on the 3rd line, his numbers are going to be ok considering those circumstances.

Carolina is not in a desperate situation to have to try to make him a superstar in his first season.

Nothing's linear except in euklidian geometry, but Kuznetsov was never projected to go near 1OA too while he was and is a great talent.

Well, people expected much higher numbers from Kuznetsov in his 1st season, but he played mostly on the 4th line, almost like Svechnikov.

Svec was a 2nd overall, with a history from NA ice.

He's going to be great for Carolina, and they have a fantastic duo to build around in Aho/Svec but he hasn't produced like few others before him.
