Not even close. You can't use PPs as a description of the overall play. Show me 5 seconds in this game where Canada was outplayed 5 on 5. You don't get outplayed on a 5 on 4, you get out-manned.

Good call. Of course 5-4 is going to look uneven, but 5-5 this game has been very close and very well played. 5-5 I don't think either team has really been "really outplaying" the other. It's been a tight game with Russia proably having about 2 more quality scoring chances.

Bleh, Canada was handed a gift when the Russian defender fell over allowing the two on one but Iginla blew it. I can fully understand being scared to turn the puck over and allowing an odd-man rush going the other way but you need to at least get into position for a better shot when you have that much room to work with. Iginla and Sakic had a two on one rush from their own blue line and it looked like Sakic was in pretty good position for a quick pass. :dunno: Oh well, need to dig deep for the third!

It will be very interesting to watch what happens if this game goes to a shootout. A guy like Smyth has had tremendous success in the NHL this year in the shootouts but I can totally see Quinn picking Iginla and Sakic (who have sucked big time) for some reason.

Well Canada has 2 things going for them at this time:

1. They dominate the faceoffs(27-16), which in a tight game can be a huge factor.

2. The NHLs two best goalies vs penalty shots are on the Canadian squad. #1 Turco; #2 Brodeur.

Gonchar is such a goddamn diver. Yes, I am rooting for Russia. Yes, I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan :biglaugh:

However, European teams generally have much more shootout experience.
